We're teaming up with several partners, including the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Office of Research and Development and Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling to characterize particles and chemicals in smoke from #wildfires in the #WUI, identify human health indicators of smoke exposure, and evaluate the effectiveness of air cleaning to remove these pollutants. These scientific insights will help inform processes for managing and reducing individual and community health risks of WUI fire emissions exposure. Learn more: https://bit.ly/44EQ1o6

Water and wastewater analysis is crucial for several reasons: 1. Public Health: Ensures that water supplies meet quality standards, preventing the spread of waterborne diseases. 2. Environmental Protection: Monitors and controls pollutants to safeguard ecosystems, aquatic life, and biodiversity. 3. Regulatory Compliance: Helps industries adhere to environmental regulations, avoiding legal consequences and fines. 4. Treatment Efficiency: Assessing water quality aids in optimizing treatment processes, improving the efficiency of water and wastewater treatment plants. 5. Resource Management: Enables sustainable use of water resources by identifying potential contaminants and implementing preventive measures. 6. Emergency Response: Rapid analysis can detect and address sudden pollution events or water quality emergencies. 7. Quality Assurance: Ensures the consistency and safety of water for various uses, including drinking, agriculture, and industrial processes. In essence, water and wastewater analysis plays a pivotal role in maintaining the health of both ecosystems and human populations, contributing to sustainable and responsible water management. #water #wastewater #watertreatment #environmentalprotection #environment #environmentalconsulting

Restoring forests to reduce soil degradation is crucial for maintaining environmental health. CPCB, with its innovative techniques and guidelines, help in reversing soil contamination by remediating contaminated sites that involve cleaning of contaminated media i.e. soils, groundwater, surface water and sediments by adopting various in-situ or ex-situ clean-up technologies up to predefined remediation target levels for each identified constituent. #WorldEnvironmentDay2024 #Reforestation

⚠️#PFAS "forever chemicals" present in all of our rivers and are extremely harmful to aquatic life, are now also found in blood samples from EU politicians (more in Wildlife and Countryside Link's blog). We've also been very concerned about the issue of chemicals in our rivers. For more information about this group of toxic compounds causing concern for both the environment and our health, read our State of Our Rivers 2024 report (https://lnkd.in/eRTjd5Qz) in which we highlight that every single river in England has failed to pass chemical health standards. We also take a deep dive into forever chemicals (https://lnkd.in/etH8vR5S) in which we share analysis by The Rivers Trust and Wildlife and Countryside Link that shone the light on just how widespread PFAS are in English rivers. Our research found that 77% of English river sites where PFAS were detected would not meet the tougher EU safety standards that have been proposed for surface water. Our rivers are in a chemical crisis, and the issue of chemicals is one that stretches far beyond the riverbanks. We need Government to introduce stronger protections for wildlife and people. ✊
From non-stick pans to waterproof coats, did you know that many everyday products contain chemicals that can linger in the environment indefinitely? PFAS "forever chemicals" have been found polluting habitats, wildlife & even our bodies. Blood tests on EU politicians by European Environmental Bureau found over half of the thirteen chemicals analysed were present. In some cases, exposure levels exceeded existing levels of concern. Read more about the results on our blog, as well as information on how to get involved in the campaign for a Toxic-Free Europe: https://lnkd.in/ejfsEz2S
