Our latest paper on nitrate in dry zone pit lakes will hopefully go some way to both highlighting the issue of nitrate in these vast mine waters, but also cautioning about interpretation of long-term concentration trends also.
Nitrate is a well-established anthropogenic contaminant with both toxic and eutrophic impacts on water quality. Nitrate is also a not uncommon but poorly considered contaminant in mine waters; including mine pit lakes, where the focus is usually on AMD. Being highly non-conservative, nitrate is often handled improperly in modelling with resulting alarmist high concentrations from evaporative-concentrating solute models that do not present in real-world examples. My new paper hopefully goes some way to helping pit lake and mine closure planners better understand the role nitrate has to play in mine pit lakes. https://lnkd.in/gYK6x6hn #minelakesconsulting #pitlakes #minelakes #mineclosure #waterquality #nitrate

Historically, sandstone acidizing has seen lower adoption due to the risk of failure in traditional methods—but now that has changed. Listen as SLB experts Temi Yusuf and Pedro Artola discuss a cost-effective single-step acidizing technology that stimulates these reservoirs in a broad range of conditions. #OneSTEP #ReservoirPerformance #SandstoneStimulation

DID YOU KNOW? Traditional clay control additives used in shale fracs can potentially damage mineral structures, risking complications in reservoir integrity. LFS Chemistry has a better solution called REACTIV™ C series. Unlike other products, it doesn't mess with the mineral structure. It encapsulates the charged particles, keeping the minerals intact and ensuring a smooth flow of fluids. Benefits: 1) Preserving Reservoir Strength: The REACTIV C series protects the structure of minerals in shale reservoirs, mitigating the damage from traditional additives. 2) Increased Well Productivity: Our additives keep the fluid flowing smoothly, improving overall well performance. 3) Environmentally Friendly: Unlike regular clay control additives, our REACTIV C series is sustainable, utilizing proprietary biopolymer technology that can remove a significant amount of carbon from the fluid system, helping to cut down on environmental impact. Our goal is to simplify clay control in shale formations, making it more effective while also being environmentally conscious, all the way from Farm to Wellhead®. Jim H. Illite overprinted on chlorite background (porphyry Cu-Mo) Very late intermineral porphyry exhibes background of chlorite -formed during ductil environment- affecting mostly ferromagnesian phenocrystals. Subsequently little volume of gas phase destroys previous imprint taking place more acidity geochemical conditions (illite) . Finally, chalcopyrite mineralization precipitates along small feeders used by gas phase.
