As a teacher and trainer of other teachers from my role in innovation for higher education, I have observed how serious games and simulators used in learning dynamics reveal cognitive processes such as Piaget's accommodation, Kolb's experiential learning, social learning (vicariate) of Behaviorist roots (Pavlov, Skinner) presented by Bandura or even the same reciprocal triadic causality of Bandura himself. In other words, understanding how we learn makes it possible to situate more precisely the benefits of gamification for teaching, dissemination, training or co-construction of knowledge. I have stood on top of the mountain and shouted this several times but it continues to fall on deaf ears.. In the realm of soccer, one intriguing trend cannot be overlooked - the emergence of exceptional players hailing from poverty-stricken backgrounds. The question arises: why does this pattern persist? The psychology behind it is rather straightforward. Discomfort and destitution instill an unwavering determination in individuals, propelling them to utilize their talent as a means of escape. A prime example of this extraordinary phenomenon is Victor Osihmen, who began his journey as a humble water boy on the streets of Lagos but rose to become the recipient of the prestigious Top African Player Award. The correlation between poverty and soccer prowess is not merely coincidental. Living in adverse conditions often fosters a resilient spirit and an insatiable hunger for success. These aspiring athletes refuse to succumb to the hardships that surround them; instead, they channel their energy into mastering the beautiful game. Soccer becomes a beacon of hope, an avenue through which they can transcend their circumstances and embrace the prospect of a brighter future. Victor Osihmen is a prime embodiment of this narrative. From his early years as a water boy, Osihmen's passion for soccer burned fiercely. Recognizing the transformative power within the sport, he resolved to harness his skills and pave his way to success. With relentless dedication and rigorous training, he honed his abilities and ascended to remarkable heights, ultimately clinching the Top African Player Award. His humble beginnings have propelled him to become an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the continent and beyond. Beyond the anecdotal evidence, there is a growing body of research that underscores the connection between poverty and sporting aptitude. Adversity molds one's character, igniting an intrinsic drive to overcome obstacles and find solace in the realm of sports. In impoverished communities, soccer assumes the role of a unifying force, transcending social and economic barriers. It acts as a catalyst for change, empowering individuals to break free from the chains of poverty and seize opportunities previously unattainable. For policymakers and INVESTORS providing opportunities for skill development, access to resources, and mentorship, the shackles of poverty can be broken, and untapped talent can blossom into something extraordinary. It is essential to recognize the immense reservoir of potential residing within these communities and foster an environment that nurtures and cultivates it. The best soccer players do not merely emerge from poverty-stricken environments by chance. Their journey is a testament to their unyielding spirit, their unwavering determination, and the transformative power of the beautiful game. By embracing this reality, we can open doors to a brighter future ,paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous society.

Physical, cognitive, financial, and social barriers shouldn’t limit a young person or their family from accessing the community support and sense of belonging that sport provides. Each season, HEROS and SuperHEROS programs prove just how important being included and having teammates to lean on can be, not just for the players but for their families and loved ones as well. The International Day of Play creates a unifying moment to elevate the importance of play as central to children’s learning and well-being — ensuring time to play, space to play, and support for quality play is prioritized. To make this change, we must: INVEST in children’s well-being by protecting their right to play. PROVIDE children with more time and opportunities to play, including in school. PROTECT their right to play by creating safe and accessible places to play, including those with special needs. RESPECT their rights to be heard in decisions impacting their right to play.
