Meet the #changemakers! Eight #MFE #MBA students with head of special projects, Kiyo Taga-Witkin, at Cartier, and me! I'm proud that these students accepted the challenge to #think hard and critically about fundamental social problems in my "Evidence-based Inclusive Leadership" class at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. We deconstructed #evidence and #policy with the goal of developing better policies and practices and creating meaningful #change. Some of the many #lessons: address the problem, not the symptom! Be an educated consumer of research! Evidence is important, but thinking trumps #evidence. Evidence is important, but #values trump evidence. #Education trumps #ideology. Difficult problems require our best minds to tackle them. These students showed that they have what it takes!

“You don’t need to have an MBA to be a leader. And yet, as we look at our conference rooms, our boardroom tables, C-suites, so many of these leaders do have MBAs,” says Mita Mallick, Carta’s Head of Inclusion, Equity and Impact and graduate of Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business. It’s true that a B-school degree can be a catalyst for career growth, whether that be a seat at the boardroom table or beyond. Happy Wednesday. It's hard to believe it's exactly 14 years ago I left behind my EMBA executive role at #Hanken to join #Hult in Boston. I published this week an article on Executive MBA programs in the latest North America Executive, which may interest you. After all these years, today, as an EMBA advisory board member, program accreditor, and faculty, I continue to see immense value in bringing together people from diverse backgrounds with the same objective of accelerating their leadership skills and career goals. Just ask any EMBA student or alum. It is not always easy to juggle work-life-related obligations, but the reward comes eventually when, at graduation, realizing the fruit of these sacrifices. The learning continues, of course, post-graduation, with the difference that an EMBA stands on a solid platform with access to continued education as needed. Meet Dr. Sue DeWine—Senior Consultant. Sue brings over 40 years of higher education experience to her role at RH Perry. In 2007, she became the 15thPresident of Hanover College. During her presidency, enrollment increased by 20%, and #studentdiversity increased from 4% to 15%. To Sue, #studentexperience should be the driving force behind higher education leaders. “For a higher education leader, every decision you make you should be asking yourself, ‘How will this improve the students’ experience?’ Too often leaders lose track of the mission and forget that in the case of higher education, student success is the only reason we exist.” When asked what she considers her greatest accomplishment, Sue says it is the #success of her students. “[Students] overcome some remarkable challenges and [achieve] success. As President, you can make some things happen that would not be possible from any other position in the university.” Outside of work, Sue loves #traveling. On her list of top places to go is Africa, but not before she returns to her favorite places Ephesus, Turkey; Chiang Mai, Thailand; and Hong Kong harbor.
