Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) According to regulations, bio-based products must be free of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), unlike fossil-based materials. The levels of the eight EU PAHs, analyzed using GC/MS, are all below 0.1 mg/kg after Soxhlet extraction with toluene for 48 hours. This means that bio-based products, in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1272/2013, can be used in high concentrations in plastic or rubber components of consumer goods without the need for additional PAHs.
