To tackle climate change, we must achieve a fundamental transformation of our economy towards a sustainable future. For this to be possible, each company must play its part in the climate transition. It's positive to see more and more companies announcing their net zero ambitions, but these are of little use if there's no action or accountability. Backing up individual company ambitions with high quality and clear transition plans is crucial if we are to collectively deliver net zero. 💻 Read the full article from Kate Levick, Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) on BusinessGreen: http://ow.ly/H7Lh104XUZi

This year, OMERS reported a 52% reduction in our portfolio's weighted-average carbon intensity (WACI) from our 2019 baseline. While this is a point-in-time measure that can fluctuate, this achievement surpasses the 50% goal set for 2030 and also signifies that we're on the right track for long-term sustainable growth. We are following our Climate Action Plan and making significant strides on our pathway to #NetZero by 2050. Here's to a more sustainable future. #ESG #ClimateAction #OMERS #SustainableInvesting
OMERS is making progress on the path to net zero! Our 2023 Annual Report shows a 52% reduction in our portfolio's weighted average carbon intensity from our 2019 baseline. This significant reduction can be attributed to the rotation of capital from higher to lower emitting assets and emissions intensity reductions in several carbon-intensive assets. With our Climate Action Plan in motion, we're on track to achieving net-zero carbon emissions in our portfolio and operations by 2050.

We are excited about the progress we have made in reducing OMERS portfolio carbon footprint - 52% from our baseline! This reduction advances just one of the commitments laid out in our Climate Action Plan. This progress is significant but we also know it's not a straight line and it's going to get a lot harder. Transitioning to a low carbon future requires action from all of us, let's keep working together to advance our collective progress!
