Our platform offers ways to participate in the AI economy without compromising the data, keeping it private (hence PrivateAI). All our co-founders have previously founded and exited crypto startups, including Ambrosus ($250m exit) and our CTO was Team Lead in Fantom ($8B market cap reached). Requirements for candidate The ideal candidate will have experience in managing multiple business development and operational processes in an early-stage startup environment from start to finish. Essentially you will be the right hand of the CEO. This individual should also have experience reaching out WITH RESULTS to large number of warm leads, managing people and to be an effective communicator. Be prepared for a chaotic, unpredictable, non-linear environment with unconventional tasks and problems. You need to be a self-starter and able to work in a dynamic, crazy environment of crypto and AI.As we are an early-stage startup, in the first few months, we expect the Chief of Staff to also perform tasks that would normally be performed by Head of Business Development as well as Head of Fundraising.Please note this is a remote position (fixed contract), with no office provided. Filling a pivotal role in a startup as a Business Analyst / Product Manager has made me realize that: i) A startup needs great people to come up with ideas and communicate them for execution that one man (admittedly) would never have conceived alone; ii) A startup needs great people to build excellent products end-to-end; ii) A startup needs great people to market and sell those products. No matter how brilliant an entrepreneur you are, the fate of your startup ultimately rests on the shoulders of the TEAM around you. ‘What does a generalist actually do in a startup’ ⁉ This is one of the most common questions I get asked at Jumpstart. Clichés like ‘no two days are the same’ or ‘you work in a spiky, cross functional way’ aren't v helpful - so thought I would break down the most common types of generalist roles we tend to see in startups - with the strong caveat that there is still a lot of ambiguity/crossover between them👇! 1️⃣ Founder Associate Best suited to seed stage startups with ~2-20 employees when clear ‘departments’ aren’t needed. FAs tend to be most effective with ~1-2 years of experience behind them, either in startups/scaleups or a high performance corporate environment. Typically, they will report into the founder and work across 2-3 different functions on specific projects. Examples include: 💹 Fundraising - building pitch decks, financial models, helping with investor outreach ⚙ Ops - for e.g. creating a proper funnel + CRM system for sales outreach 🎨 Marketing - working with an agency to build the brand/website 📦 Product/customer - running customer interviews/working with the devs to build/prioritise features 2️⃣ Commercial Associate An FA with a very commercial focus. The best CA’s tend to either have been founders themselves, or from a consulting/banking environment where they have had a lot of exposure to clients. Best suited to seed stage startups, their main role is to build out the basic building blocks of a sales function e.g. a CRM, refining the ‘ideal customer’, A/B test and iterate lots of outreach strategies, define the sales funnel/playbook, as well as running customer calls and demos. As the startup grows, they might transition into a more traditional Account Exec role. 3️⃣ Ops analyst/associate Best suited to fresh grads who are highly proactive, these roles are most common in series A+ startups with 30+ people. What will define the startup and business landscape for the next decade? Part III - Go-To-Market (GTM) is the new frontier in venture creation Following my last two posts where incumbents get bigger and startups move towards remote work, it's now time to talk about GTM. Throughout the tech pullback of the last 18 months almost every corner of the industry has been affected. However, as always there’s an exception which in this case is the AI bubble. As OpenAI captured our imagination with ChatGPT, every startup hustled to slap a “made with AI” sticker on their products. In this part of the ecosystem, valuations remain sky-high and investors are deploying capital with much less restraint. I believe that the AI revolution will bifurcate the market. Supporting Part I of this series, out of all the existing companies large incumbent platforms will benefit the most. They have a locked in customer base that can derive value from AI and LLMs much faster than anyone else. Startups will build incredible features but these will get acquired quickly and become part of the tech establishment. On the other end, new startups will emerge that couldn’t have existed in the past. These will be smaller companies, focused on niche applications and funded with a very different capital structure. They will be built from the ground up to be profitable, with sustainable growth and efficiency at their core. AI and no-code tools will make it possible for teams to build software more efficiently. This will translate to much more fragmentation as savvy business people start building software solutions that serve niche market needs without having to raise crazy amounts of money, without having to hire huge engineering teams and without the expectation of billion-dollar returns. I believe large incumbent platforms will continue to grow and benefit from the current environment. They will win at the high end, making it almost impossible for startups to compete for large markets and enterprise deals. At the same time, building software starts to get commoditized and creative non-technical founders will begin building smaller, profitable companies that address specific needs for smaller markets. With all this competition and in order to grow these new type of startups, entrepreneurs will need to break through the noise by focusing their creative energy and resources on building the strongest and most differentiated go-to-market (GTM) possible. In a world where the bar for building software is much lower because of AI, no-code / low-code tools, and lower-cost remote talent, GTM becomes the biggest differentiator. As the world understands how to leverage AI, I believe we'll see a larger and larger percentage of revenue getting spent in GTM. What do you think?
