🌾 Happy #AgDayAu! As part of the ‘Empowering Generation Z Drought Resilience’ program, nine 6.5 hectare farmlets were established in 2022 on our Wagga Wagga campus. The farmlets give students studying veterinary science, animal science, agricultural science or agribusiness degrees hands-on experience with grazing management, animal husbandry and crop management. Shawn McGrath from Gulbali Institute tells us students graduating in these disciplines will be future farm and business managers, leaders, and consultants. So providing students with hands-on experience through the drought resilience farmlets will mean graduates are well prepared for a future career in agriculture that will operate in a more challenging and variable climate. Agriculture is a way of life for many Australians and here at Charles Sturt today and everyday we celebrate our farming community, agricultural staff, students, alumni, and researchers.👏 These farmlets were funded by the Federal Government’s Future Drought Fund. The phrase "alpha male" in the context of wolf pack behavior was popularized by Dr. L. David Mech in his book "The Wolf: Ecology and Behavior of an Endangered Species" published in 1970. However, Mech himself has since stated that the concept of alpha wolves dominating the pack is not accurate. Later research has shown that wolf packs are often family units, and the "alpha" role is more related to breeding rights rather than dominance in a strict sense. Mech himself has advocated against the use of the term "alpha" to describe wolf behavior. 🐺 See, lone wolves, even "alpha" ones, will have a hard time against a pack of opponents. 🤝 Let the team lead construct an inspiring Objective and let some of the pack members negotiate the Key Results and then take accountability for them. Matching driven Agriculture Professionals with their DREAM career🗝 | Talent Acquisition Specialist✨| Ignitor of Confidence and Self-Esteem⚡️| Die-hard Agriculturist 🌱
Do you ever remember growing up as a child and your parents saying you will appreciate this more someday? For me, it was the opportunity to grow up in agriculture. The values and life skills implemented in kids that grew up on a farm or ranch or that have show livestock is priceless. Through the long hours in the pasture or the show barn it taught me 💎Responsibility 💎Ownership 💎How to contribute to a team 💎Resilience when things are tough 💎How to work hard for your goals 💎Success does not happen over night 💎Not all work is fun 💎Importance of learning new skills to grow 💎How to adapt when goals are not achieved 💎Importance of celebrating success Growing up, it is hard to admit your parents are right. Looking back, these life traits molded me into who I am and I pray it does the same for my kids. These fundamentals established at a young age is the foundation of what makes leaders of our industry. If you grew up in agriculture, what life skills are you most thankful for? #futureofagriculture #nextgeneration #sustainableagriculture

Midweek reset... Long-range Planning Mindset "The plant and animal kingdoms offer many examples of long-range planning. Nature abounds with illustrations of animals and insects that store up provisions to prepare for times of scarcity. Ironically, animals do instinctively what rational humans fail to do. We need to be exhorted to save our money to prepare for times of adversity and to maximize opportunities while they last." Handbook to Leadership

Katie also talks about what their farm looks like today, how they plan to grow, and how she integrates the farm with motherhood and mentorship through the Young Agrarians apprenticeship program. https://lnkd.in/gVtTkZ5G

At NATIONAL WILDLIFE CONTROL OPERATORS ASSOCIATION, Seth had a great talk about the crucial difference your database and your customers. Do you guys know the difference? Often, we mix them up or assume they are the same. The truth? They're not! If you're not clear on the difference, chances are you're not maximizing your company's growth potential. Take a quick look inside this clip and hear Seth talk about database vs customer. After watching, have you been thinking about it all wrong? It's time to switch the perspective! If you were at NWCOA and listened in, drop your thoughts in the comments! 2 weeks of working on a farm has honestly already improved my thinking. It forces me to think my day and the next tasks through in a very concrete and practical way that is super helpful. I thought I was already doing a pretty decent job of that, but I really wasn't. And I still have miles ahead of me on that account. Listed 3 top learning highlights on the Farm Log this week: https://lnkd.in/eT6SbKzP What do you think about these learnings? - Have you experienced something similar or perhaps opposite?
