|Chartered Valuer|| Property and Facilities Manager|| Real Estate Research Analyst, Project Manager, Acquisition and Liaison officer, Vendor and Procurement Manager, Portfolio Manager and Real estate Investment Advisory
Facilities managers play a crucial role in the life cycle of a building or infrastructure project. The role of Facilities managers shouldn’t only be when the project is completed. There are a couple of reasons why a Facilities manager should be involved from the design stage of a project. Involving facilities managers in the design stage of a project is essential for optimizing space, reducing operating costs, and ensuring sustainability. Their expertise contributes to safety compliance, enhances user experience, and aids in technological integration. Facilities managers also promote flexibility, anticipate future needs, and perform life cycle cost analysis, which ultimately leads to project efficiency and success. Their early involvement streamlines the handover process, creating smoother transitions from construction to operation. Overall, this collaboration results in cost-effective, sustainable, and adaptable facilities that align with long-term goals and benefit both immediate and future occupants. In summary, involving facilities managers at the design stage of a project is a proactive strategy that leads to more efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective facilities. It ensures that the end result not only meets the immediate requirements but is also future-proofed and aligned with long-term goals. This collaborative approach ultimately contributes to the success and longevity of the facility. #facilitiesmanager #spaceoptimization

At BENCHMARK, we firmly believe in the power of proactive management to ensure that the design perfectly aligns with the client's program requirements, as well as their budget, schedule, and quality parameters. By taking a proactive approach, we enable our clients to have a clear understanding of what their budget can accommodate, allowing them to secure financing at an earlier stage. Moreover, this approach significantly reduces the overall project timeline compared to the traditional design, bid, and build contract format. To achieve this, we implement robust communication and reporting systems right from the start. These systems play a crucial role in identifying any potential misunderstandings and resolving them before construction even begins. By addressing these issues early on, we save our clients valuable time and resources, ensuring a smooth and efficient project execution. Furthermore, our proactive management approach provides our clients with the opportunity to explore alternative systems that can enhance their project's sustainability and efficiency. We encourage the exploration of energy-efficient solutions, lifecycle cost systems, sustainable technologies, and environmentally sound construction techniques. By incorporating these innovative approaches, we not only create environmentally friendly structures but also help our clients achieve long-term cost savings. At BENCHMARK, we are committed to delivering exceptional results through proactive management, effective communication, and a focus on sustainable practices. Our dedication to excellence ensures that our clients' projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Project Manager | Prince2 Certified | Rail, Police, Aviation, Telecoms Expert | Advisory & Delivery | Results-Oriented Dynamic Leader |
As I mark my two-month milestone in my new role as a Project Manager in the telecoms industry, I find myself reflecting on the intriguing differences between this sector and my previous experience in rail. The transition has been nothing short of eye-opening, shedding light on the unique dynamics, challenges, and opportunities. One of the most striking differences I've encountered is the pace of work. In the rail industry, projects often progress at a steady, measured pace, driven by meticulous planning and adherence to established protocols. On the other hand, the telecoms industry operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where agility and adaptability are paramount. Deadlines are tighter, and the need to respond swiftly to market changes is ever-present. Stakeholder management, while crucial in both sectors, manifests differently in telecoms. In rail, stakeholders tend to be more centralised, with clear hierarchies and decision-making processes. However, in telecoms, stakeholders are diverse, and navigating this intricate web of stakeholders requires a more refined approach, emphasising communication, relationship-building, and alignment of interests. The telecoms industry is a true reflection of innovation, constantly evolving to meet the demands of an increasingly connected world. As a project manager, I've been exposed to the latest technologies such as 5G, IoT, and cloud computing, which drive efficiency, enhance connectivity, and unlock new possibilities. This contrasts with the rail sector, where innovation often occurs at a slower pace due to the legacy infrastructure and regulatory constraints the London Underground is the oldest underground system in the world. Lastly, the cultural dynamics between the two industries are remarkable. While both sectors prioritise safety and reliability, the cultural norms and values vary significantly. In rail, there's a sense of tradition and hierarchy, with an emphasis on procedural compliance and risk mitigation. In telecoms, the culture is more fluid and entrepreneurial, promoting innovation, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge existing conditions. In conclusion, my transition from rail to telecoms has been an enlightening journey, offering valuable insights into the intricacies of two distinct yet interconnected industries. As a project manager, I've learned to embrace change, leverage technology, and adapt my approach to suit the evolving needs of each environment. By embracing diversity, and leveraging the unique strengths of each sector, I am confident in my ability to drive meaningful impact and deliver successful outcomes in the dynamic world of telecoms. #telecommunications #engineeringexcellence #projectmanagement #railway #infrastructure #innovation #technology #futurism #motivation #sustainability #design #creativity #inspiration #leadership #management #personaldevelopment #strategy #business #security
