Understanding DB Time and Optimizing Database Performance In the realm of database management, understanding DB Time is crucial for optimizing performance. DB Time encompasses both DB Wait Time and DB CPU Time, providing insights into where tuning is required. DB Wait Time DB Wait Time refers to the period a database spends waiting for resources, such as I/O operations, network, and locks. When DB Wait Time increases, it indicates a need for resource-level tuning, addressing bottlenecks and enhancing system efficiency. DB CPU Time DB CPU Time is the duration the CPU spends processing database requests. An increase in DB CPU Time often signals the need for SQL tuning, focusing on optimizing queries to reduce CPU workload. Utilizing AWR Reports By analyzing Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) reports, you can pinpoint where tuning is necessary. These reports highlight top wait events, guiding you in addressing performance issues effectively. 👉 DB CPU Time Increasing? Focus on SQL tuning to optimize your queries. 👉 DB Wait Time Increasing? Look into resource-level tuning to improve system performance. Harness the power of DB Time analysis to ensure your database operates at peak efficiency! What is the difference between row chaining and row migration? Overview If you notice poor performance in your Oracle database Row Chaining and Migration may be one of several reasons, but we can prevent some of them by properly designing and/or diagnosing the database. Row Migration & Row Chaining are two potential problems that can be prevented. By suitably diagnosing, we can improve database performance. Migrated rows affect OLTP systems which use indexed reads to read singleton rows. In the worst case, you can add an extra I/O to all reads which would be really bad. Truly chained rows affect index reads and full table scans. https://lnkd.in/d7xpTZwQ
