In my new book, I delve into the accomplishments of STEM trailblazers whose ingenuity and resilience helped shape American society, despite facing obstacles. My book will serve as an invaluable resource for educators, students, and enthusiasts eager to explore the rich tapestry of African American excellence in STEM fields. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a non-profit organization, Fellowship Warriors, which is focused on teaching young people the importance of making good decisions about their education, health, and future through basketball clinics that are designed to instill resolution and communication skills, teamwork, service, physical fitness and nutrition. When I see a post of some company that historically do not have products or a line of makeup for women of color; of whom I have never see a Black sales associate nor employee; however, want to make an impact in one month out of 12, I’m interested in what they do for 12 months not what they say for one month. After listening to the video included in EsteeLauders post, I must point out that all efforts to build up/honor melaninated people is a short lived topic. The term “Inclusion” now overrides the right of just and equal treatment and human rights for those of Diaspora. The inclusion of women, LGBTQ and immigrants still migrating into the US, of which all people deserves equal human rights; that should not even be the question or up for debate. However, the merging of these groups under the same label is a ploy and attempt to futher kick Diaspora’s under the bus by taking precident over Melaninated people and taking focus from the real issue—Reperations. Black Girl Freedom Week is an insult. Join ABFE. A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities on August 2nd, 2023, at noon EST for our funder briefing, "Philanthropy and #HBCUs – A Closer Look at Who's Giving Black." In the Spring of 2023, #ABFE and Candid released a comprehensive research study that examines the institutional giving-gap and disparities in foundation support to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) compared to Predominately White Institutions (PWIs). It sheds light on the challenges faced by Black institutions and calls for greater investment, #philanthropic support, and increased prioritization of #HBCU giving from #foundations and grantmaking entities. Conducted in partnership with Grantmakers for Education, and Led by ABFE's President and CEO, Susan Taylor Batten, with contributions from ABFE’s Chief Development Officer, Cory Witherspoon, Candid’s Sr. Director of Research, Dr. Cathleen Clerkin, and ABFE’s Director of Programs, Dr. T.J. Breeden, the briefing informs the philanthropic community on the insights captured during the study. Coming to the scheduled end of the Laset (לָשֵׂאת) Appeal, we again express our gratitude for every donation of every size. We’ve learned so much about our supporters & ourselves, raised our profile with our Holocaust community peers, and with just the amount raised, we’ll be able to deliver our 2024 programming and not compromise other TtS budgets. But the impact of  Laset (לָשֵׂאת) doesn’t end there. With 2024 program underwriting in hand, we also: -Prepared a menu of offerings for integrating storytelling into education & awareness programs. -Continued developing advanced storyteller training. -Engaged a summer intern. -…and will attend the 2024 @Association of Holocaust Organizations (AHO) annual international conference! Getting to AHO cannot be overstated. On 9-11 June in NYC, we will be in the room with some of the world’s rock star Holocaust scholars, leaders, and advocates shining a spotlight on TtS and why Holocaust programming needs people like our storytellers to continue the oral tradition of living Shoah testimony. Celebrating Excellence: In Tampa, Florida, 100 Black boys from Icon Preparatory School, dressed as kings, were recognized for their achievements and potential. The boys were honored during the annual B.U.B.B.A.’s Sons in Suits Community Awards, an event that aims to inspire young boys and men of color while honoring those who've made significant strides in their personal and academic endeavors. The sight of these young kings standing tall served as a powerful reminder of the impact positive reinforcement and representation can have on young lives, illuminating a path toward a brighter, more inclusive future. Recently listened to a podcast from The Pew Charitable Trusts, highlighting how important it is for scientists to communicate their research effectively to the public. In today's world, where opinions can be pretty divided, building trust in science is more important than ever. Pew Research Center findings shed light on how public views are always changing. St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, in collaboration with Americans for the Arts and Creative Pinellas shared that St. Petersburg’s nonprofit arts industry generated $132,530,557 in economic activity in 2022, according to the newly released Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6), an economic and social impact study. This economic activity is comprised of $61,607,918 in spending by nonprofit arts and culture organizations and $70,922,639 in event-related spending by their audiences supported 2,121 jobs and generated $26,529,721 in local, state, and federal government revenue. Imagine what we can do with art investors, at every level - government, business and individual philanthropy. All in, all for the greater good.

Philanthropy and Arts & Culture institutions have the power to bring about significant change by addressing funding inequalities. By examining the dynamics of donor relations, museum exhibitions, and the struggles faced by theaters, we can begin to shift cultural hierarchies and create a more equitable society. One example of how philanthropy can make a difference is by supporting underfunded arts programs in BIPOC communities. By providing financial resources and opportunities for artists and performers in these areas, we can help level the playing field and ensure that everyone has access to the arts.
