Global Database of CAR-T Cell Therapy Companies, 2023 - https://lnkd.in/eGMJt9H CAR-T cell therapy is a remarkably promising treatment for cancer patients. It is a type of immunotherapy where doctors collect immune cells, modify them in a laboratory, and provide them the power to recognize and kill cancer cells. When infused into a patient, the cells get multiplied and stay in the body as “living drugs.” Since the first historic CAR-T approvals in 2017, the following products have been approved by the U.S. FDA: 1. Kymriah (tisagenlecleucel) 2. Yescarta (axicabtagene ciloleucel) 3. Tecartus (brexucabtagene autoleucel) 4. Breyanzi (lisocabtagene maraleucel) 5. Abecma (idecabtagene vicleucel) 6. Carvykti (Ciltacabtagene autoleucel) Many of the CAR-T therapies above have been approved by other regulatory agencies, most commonly for use within the EU. Of course, CAR-T therapies have reached commercialization in other regions as well, such as Relma-cel’s (Relmacabtagene) approval from the NMPA in China, Ebvallo’s (tabelecleucel) approval from the European Commission, Actaly-cel's (Actalycabtagene autoleucel) in India, and Fucaso's (Equecabtagene autoleucel) approval in China, for example. These historic approvals have driven the CAR-T market to staggering new heights and fueled a frenzy of interest into CAR-T cell therapy development. A recent development may help cell therapy reach its potential for solid tumours, at least for patients with matching criteria. Notwithstanding procedures and reactions along the treatment, as well as payer incentives / payment models, “… TILs* come directly from the tumor, they already recognize many targets on the cancer cells. This makes them a very attractive therapy because we don’t have to do anything to point them toward the tumor.” cited an academic channel. Site preparation and manufacturing capacity are usual concerns, reported to be handled internally and contractually with the (expected) turnaround time specified.
