I am feeling disappointed and disheartened after going through the hiring process and interviews with Insight Therapy Solutions, a mental health company. As someone who strongly believes in the importance of mental health and its advocacy, I expected more sensitivity and transparency from an organization that claims to promote mental well-being. Throughout the interviews, I felt a genuine connection with the team and the company's mission. I was enthusiastic about the prospect of contributing my skills and passion to support their cause. However, the lack of communication and updates after the interviews has left me feeling neglected and undervalued. It is disconcerting to see a mental health company, which should prioritize compassion and empathy, fail to extend those principles to their hiring process. Proper communication and updates about the status of my application would have provided clarity and closure, allowing me to move forward with my job search. While I understand that companies receive numerous applications and may not be able to respond to everyone individually, it is essential to remember that the way applicants are treated reflects the company's values and culture. Advocating for mental health should not be limited to just the services provided to clients but should also extend to how potential employees are treated during the hiring process. Despite the disappointment, I remain committed to finding a workplace that aligns with my values and appreciates the significance of mental health advocacy. I hope this experience serves as a reminder to mental health companies and all organizations to treat their candidates with respect, kindness, and open communication. It is only through embodying these principles that they can truly create a positive impact on the mental health community as a whole.

Dear executives... what kind of safety practices do you have that prevent abusive #workplaces to happen? What kind of practices do you have that let you be 100% sure, your #management is leading in a way you would want to be led? We wholeheartedly stand with Sophia Carter, PhD, LPC. Because Workplace trauma will follow people for years. So let's start at the core - the workplace itself. That is something we need to address and see the space for change. #WorkplaceSafety #Leadership #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceCulture #TraumaInformedLeadership -------------------------- ⚠️Don't know where to start? Contact us and let's make that change in #2024.✅️ Maxiom, SCC
What makes workplace trauma so hard to escape? When your abuser is seen as an authority figure who controls your livelihood and financial security (i.e. a manager), people tend to feel that they have no choice but to be compliant and endure it. Even worse, repeated exposure to the abuser leads to a sense of lost control over one's circumstances, self-doubt, and the tendency for the victim to turn the blame inward and develop beliefs about why they deserve their abuse. ⬆️⬆️⬆️ These effects can last and worsen long after the relationship with the abuser is severed. And that's where I come in. I’m Dr. Sophia Carter. I’m a business psychologist and trauma informed career coach. I help women exit toxic and abusive work environments so that they can transition from career stagnation to career progression. Mental Health Week - I was really pleased to join Jodie Adams and Delia Guadalupe Padilla Burgos on a live chat about mental health with Euromonitor International. It was really great to break down myths around mental health - and hear personal stories of what helped us and how to help others. We are very proud that Euromonitor International invested in training over 100 people globally to be mental health first-aiders so can confidently say no matter which office you are in there is a trained person to help and signpost you to professional help. Recruiting well in behavioral health means doing lots of research. This usually looks like me reading a lot of company reviews on job posting sites. I often find the reviews for social service mental health agencies particularly abysmal, but not for the reasons you may think... Obviously, these agencies are never going to be able to compete with for-profit agencies on a 1:1 basis. No, the most troubling parts of the reviews have to do with company culture. This is entirely controllable via management changes and policy. Why does it continue?

“How is everyone doing?" This was the simple question Elmo asked on the internet that sparked a deluge of replies about sadness and pain, bringing mental health to the forefront. As professionals juggling many responsibilities, self-care is critical...especially when we are weighed down by anxiety and depression caused by family problems, personal loss, debt, career uncertainty, and the pervasive influence of technology. It is also important to acknowledge that many of us on LinkedIn are stressed about job security, career growth, and finding a new job. As I scroll through postings on my LinkedIn home page, I can’t help but be concerned about how seeing members’ updates announcing achievements, exciting new positions, and being promoted is affecting those who were laid off or are struggling at work. Comparing ourselves to others is natural. If you find that your work situation is impacting your well-being, consider taking a positive step toward getting help. It's Mental Health Awareness Week 🧠 🧡 Picture this: You're hiring and have a sea of CVs before you. Ever wondered what's behind each candidate's qualifications and experiences? It's their mental health, often unnoticed, yet pivotal in their work life. Recruitment isn't just about ticking skill boxes. It's about people - real humans with real lives outside the 9-5, each with their own mental health story. 🤝 If we ignore this, we're not just hiring half a person; we're neglecting the part that drives passion, creativity, and resilience. Let's make mental well-being a priority not only after they come aboard but right from the first interaction. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #Recruitment #HumanFirst
