A pleasure to attend today’s Legal Cheek talk in partnership with BARBRI Global discussing Qualifying Work Experience and the SQE route to qualification. It was great to hear from the panel about their SQE experience and how they completed their QWE. I think it’s so important to hear others legal journey and gain insight into the many routes to qualification. As someone who has taken a perhaps ‘unconventional’ route with the intention of one day qualifying, it was reassuring to learn no path was the same with every panel member’s background being different. Some had degrees in completely different areas, others working for years in IT or Business (even a musician!) and others with no degree, working their way from the bottom up. The two main things I took from today’s talk were: 1. There is no set path 2. Never doubt your abilities With the intention of undertaking the SQE in the future, I am excited to one day qualify and look back on the progress I made from law student to paralegal to … lawyer!
We are LIVE at this afternoon's virtual student event 'Making QWE work for you – with BARBRI Global'! On the agenda:

In the journey towards redemption and societal reintegration, supporting individuals with criminal convictions to make a fresh start is a mission close to my heart, as I personally understand the profound challenges and complexities involved. Our promotional video delves into the critical importance of offering a second chance to those determined to turn their lives around. It underscores the transformative power of empathy, structured support, and the removal of societal barriers that often hinder reintegration. By embracing our comprehensive approach to disclosures which include vocational training, ongoing peer mentor support, and community engagement, we can create a pathway that not only empowers individuals to rebuild their lives but also enhances societal well-being. We also work to support the open minded people that are willing to offer opportunities to those that are working hard to earn them. This video captures why we do what we do, because, we recognise the potential for change and growth within every individual, regardless of their past. Get involved in this vital conversation so we can close the revolving doors and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to contribute positively to society🩵 https://lnkd.in/e3xc6_Tf

Happy Preservation Month! Since 2022, NAPC has celebrated Preservation Month with the What's Your Why challenge. Thanks to those who have shared, this has become a great source of joy and encouragement for those working or volunteering in historic preservation. We're excited to continue the challenge this year! How did the What's Your Why Challenge start? Commission Assistance and Mentoring Program (CAMP) Trainer, Adrian Scott Fine, often poses the question, "What's Your Why?" to CAMPers as a way to conclude a day of training and refocus the conversation. This month, we challenge you to take on this question: What is your why? Here's how to play along: 1. Watch Adrian's official What's Your Why Challenge (https://lnkd.in/dcptYU6B). 2. Think about your Why - Why do you do what you do? What sparked your interest in historic preservation? What keeps you going on those rough days? 3. Get creative with a video or a written narrative with images. 4. Share your Why using #NAPCWhatsYourWhy and tag us. @NationalAllianceofPreservationCommissions Email submissions are great too. Send them to director@napcommissions.org. We will be sharing your stories along with NAPC's CAMP Trainers, Board Members, Staff, Members, and Partners all month long. Let's inspire each other with our Whys! #NAPCWhatsYourWhy #PreservationMonth
