One of my favourite Cannes Lions ever! So exciting to see and feel the industry coalescing around the huge creative opportunity that AI enables. It's been a real privilege to listen and learn from many of our creative partners new and old. Yesterday at #canneslions2024, Google's VP of ads Vidhya Srinivasan and creative director @ alexander chen spoke about AI and creativity on the main stage. The highlights for me were: 👏 In the past 12 months, search interest in "how to use AI" has increased 450% in the U.S. and 350% in the EU. 👏 Right now is the perfect time for everyone to start playing with AI and many already are! 👏 With AI as a creative tool, the potential for creatives and creativity is limitless - it can help dramatically improve relevance and resonance; the two factors that make the biggest difference for advertisers. After attending New York Tech Week last month and witnessing numerous presentations showcasing AI tools that can 'replicate' celebrities and influencers as well as potentially replace designers and artists, I found myself concerned about the future of creators. However, my perspective shifted when I came across an article by Scott Belsky, which stated: "As every brand floods the zone of our consciousness with AI-generated content, we will crave story, meaning, and originality more than ever before. The efficiencies of AI reduce the cost of content creation so we can TAKE MORE CREATIVE RISK. Instead of green-lighting five ideas, perhaps we can green-light fifteen?...With AI, the core can get 10x better, and the periphery will grow 100x larger...My general thesis about implications of AI across industries: We need to value human ingenuity and free up the capacity of creative minds for higher order tasks." I became even more excited about what the future holds, as just yesterday, at the Vogue Business event, Nima Abbasi and Cyril Foiret discussed how AI was used to design three new fashion collections on Revolve (check it out, this is very cool: https://lnkd.in/dntcY2Tb).
