Cooperatives are such an added value to our communities, ecomomy, cultures, and future. Cooperatives - center people first. What’s good for all involved, pooling resources together to spread the good, what are acts that have sustainable effects, instead of refractive effects, decisions that work to better lives, not strictly profit from them. Coops exist in so many facets of our lives. Whenever possible - choose a Co-op! • Credit Unions (don’t have outside stockholders - members are the collective shareholders - decisions benefit the members/membership) • Grocery Co-ops (like PCC, Central Co-op) • Home care co-ops • Electric Co-ops • Agricultural Co-ops • Retail co-ops (Ace Hardware) • Worker-Owner Co-op (growing trend among businesses where owners are aging out and selling business to employees collectively) • Housing Co-ops …. Calling all B Corps to gather and reconnect at our first AANZ B Corp gathering in 5 years! In a few weeks on 26-28 February, B Lab AANZ will be hosting Assembly, a 3-day community event at Cape Schank, Victoria, Australia. This is the first and largest one of its kind since 2017. Given the growth of the movement (the B Corp community tripled in size since 2017), Assembly is the place for new B Corps to connect with each other and an opportunity for early adopter B Corps to refuel their passion and lead collective action. Most importantly, Assembly brings everyone together to catalyse and accelerate change, during a time when a shared voice for hope is needed more so than ever. We will be having conversations about: the role of business in society, how our financial system needs to change, a debate on excluding or leading bad actors, what stakeholder governance means for SMEs, the leadership needed for our times… etc. Last but not least, B Lab Global’s interim lead executive Clay Brown will be hosting a session on the evolving B Corp Standards. All this will be delivered against a stunning setting in the beautiful Mornington Peninsula (90 minutes outside of Melbourne) in between beach walks and rock pool swims. Assembly is simply not to be missed! It will be a memorable experience designed for connection and impacting change. It is an opportunity to transform intentions into tangible actions, and challenge ourselves as leaders, as changemakers, and as people, to find solutions. All this starts with reconnection — with each other, ourselves, nature, and our work. multiculturalism is or has supplante the one political and social culture that in theory is a melting pot where all can assimiliate to be an American a citizen that comes with no color or creed-just human. I said in theory but in practiced with struggles IT WORKS. That is right it works despite its flaws which is built into human nature On the other hand multiculturalism in theory is to blend all to what ? Harmony? But in practice all regress to tribalism, conflict and in the end the break up of the above America they claimed as flawed and racist and bigoted. What are we destroying?
