GPMS International has achieved a significant milestone with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granting supplemental type certificates (STCs) for Foresight MX HUMS on Airbus H135 and AS332 Super Puma helicopters. This expansion follows successful collaboration with industry leaders like Blackcomb Helicopters, Precision, and Metro Aviation, Inc., crucial in achieving these certifications. Ronnie Ries, VP of Marketing at GPMS, expressed gratitude, stating, "We appreciate the dedicated support from Blackcomb Helicopters and Precision, and we’re excited to see them monitoring their fleets with Foresight MX. Metro Aviation’s contribution was invaluable in these certification efforts." Since the initial STC on the Bell Flight 407 in 2019, GPMS has pursued certifications on over 14 models across various OEMs. Ries highlighted the growing demand for Foresight MX, driven by operators seeking comprehensive fleet monitoring, meeting contractual obligations, and mitigating business challenges. These vital components, integral to the operation of Boeing 737 NG aircraft engines, are subject to mandatory replacement schedules. However, recent observations suggest a scarcity of these critical parts in used condition, especially in higher cycles remaining, prompting questions about the reasons behind their disappearance and the potential implications for aircraft operators and maintenance providers. One plausible explanation for the dwindling availability of CFM56-7B Core Module LLPs is the increasing demand for maintenance and overhaul services in the aviation industry. With the global fleet of Boeing 737 NG aircraft still significant in numbers, and COVID restrictions withdrawn, the need for these parts has surged. Another interesting subject aircraft, this time a mid 90's Falcon 2000. A good start is the fact that it had PPI done at Jet Aviation late last year. That makes thing's easy when it comes to the first step in the acquisition process. Jet Aviation has an excellent name, and we'd expect that a proper, thorough inspection was completed. Though the older 2000's have the CFE738 engines (The 2000 has had the P&W 308 since 2003 with the advent of the EX), this is still a great engine, with excellent options to ensure longevity. Both Standard Aero and JSSI do lease and extension programs, which make the ownership of an older aircraft with a low RV (having been fully depreciated) sensible. If not for these programs, the engine overhauls may very well outstrip the cost of the aircraft itself, making ownership otherwise unfeasible. So why this aircraft? A new interior, and an avionics upgrade are both needed to bring this aircraft up to a modern standard. Avionics could be as simply as replacing the older CRT's with something like Thompson's plug and play replacement, as well as an FMC upgrade. Or, bring the aircraft into the 21st century with one of my favorite upgrades, the Universal InSight system, complete with SVS, charts and integrated FMS... I love this system! With prices starting to come back to 2021 pricing (read... back to reality), those who have been patiently waiting to begin their acquisition journey are now coming into a position where it makes sense to formulate a plan. That plan has many facets... we can assist. Just another one A320 posted you could say. But one detail makes this aircraft different from any other A320 family aircraft at our airport. The answer is in its engines. Most of A320CEO family aircraft operating in Russia are equipped with CFM56 family engines designed by GE of the USA and Safran of France. This is the most popular and reliable choice of engines for the A320CEO family and the only option for Boeing 737NGs. About 65% of all A320 CEO family aircraft in the world are powered by these engines. But like popular car models, many aircraft are also offered with several engine options from different manufacturers. The remaining 35% of all A320CEO family aircraft are equipped with IAE V2500 engines. You can easily recognize them by their longer nacelles. A primary trend found when comparing these 2 engine types is that the CFM56 has lower maintenance costs and great reliability, the V2500 engine typically has a lower fuel burn but with higher maintenance costs and slightly more thrust power. Cirium Ascend Consultancy Value Review Board has concluded a number of Market Value changes to business aviation types in February 2024. Bombardier’s Challenger 604/605/650 models saw a range of change; -14% through +16% on the CL604, as much as 8% decrease on the CL605. Gulfstream’s GV fell by 5%, Pilatus PC-12 NGX models fell by 7-8%, while minimal to no changes took place on the CL650, G280, PC-12NG/47 and the Cessna 208 Caravan. The Federal Aviation Administration's new MOSAIC proposal is designed to expand the usefulness and operating rules for light sport aircraft. The FAA is accepting comments on the proposed rule until October 23. Although sport pilots will still have strict passenger limitations, the FAA is proposing to remove some of the more notorious regulatory limitations that currently apply to LSAs (by, for example, increasing operational capabilities to a stall speed of 54 knots, a maximum level flight speed of 250 knots, and the seating capacity to four). General aviation manufacturers--including perhaps most notably the electric aircraft industry--and operators should benefit from the relaxation of limits on LSAs.
