The next big growth lever for Roblox is also a big opportunity for brands. And the keywords are import & export: Roblox is a virtual economy. So far, the economic growth is driven by on-platform activity and products. For any economy, import and export activities are significant growth drivers. For Roblox, that means facilitating commerce for off-platform and physical products. The company finally confirmed moving in this direction during a recent investor day event. Looking ahead, it opens up for exciting opportunities: • Virtual, social e-commerce experiences • Immersive, branded e-commerce • New types of physical/digital loyalty experiences The question I'm thinking about now is: Will Roblox primarily be an attention and marketing surface for brands, or will it eventually enable fully embedded retail experiences on-platform?

Everyone's always talking about Roblox and Fortnite when it comes to metaverse platforms and branded partnerships, but PUBG: Mobile is absolutely killing it, and I rarely see people mention it. Why?! PUBG: Mobile recently partnered with KFC to introduce KFC restaurants into select in-game PUBG maps. Players can visit these restaurants to purchase KFC menu items and recover health and hp (great idea). Players were also treated to KFC-themed in-game cosmetic items including character skins and avatar frames. The campaign was activated in real life too with PUBG-themed meal boxes available to purchase at select KFC restaurants. Here's why you should be paying more attention to PUBG: Mobile 🍗 30 million daily active players (ON MOBILE ALONE – there's a console/PC version too!) 🍗 Massively popular in India and Turkey 🍗 Major music presence having previously hosted a Blackpink tournament 🍗 Track record of successful collaborations with massive IP including Spider-Man, Resident Evil, Liverpool FC, McLaren, Tesla and many more. Oh, and if you think the chicken stuff is a weird fit or a cheap cash-in, it's hilariously on-brand because a victory in PUBG has always been known as a 'chicken dinner' Congrats to PUBG's internal team and its creative partners that helped pull this together. Wish I saw this game getting as much attention as other games and metaverse platforms in the likes of AdWeek and Campaign.

🌟 e.l.f. Cosmetics Innovates with Real-World Commerce on Roblox! 🌟 Starting today, beauty enthusiasts can now order select e.l.f. products through the e.l.f. UP! virtual kiosk in Roblox, thanks to a new partnership with Walmart. Back in April Walmart and Roblox announced a partnership with “Walmart Discovered” Roblox game, where players can buy real-world items. This is the next step, incorporating Walmart e-commerce in other Roblox games. 🛍 What’s New? Through in-game virtual kiosks in the Tycoon game, players can purchase virtual items that also have a physical real-world product that will be shipped to their home via Walmart. To start, players can buy: Squeeze Me Lip Balm (Virtual Twin: Squeeze Me Grape Hairstyle) Glow Reviver Lip Oils (Virtual Twin: Lip Oil Wings) Suntouchable Whoa Glow SPF 30 (Virtual Twin: Beach Bandau) I’m super bullish on creator platforms becoming shopping destinations. Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft and eventually GTA VI will have built-in massive audiences that spend huge amounts of time in their ecosystems. These platforms are the social media of today for young people and adding ecommerce is a natural next step.

While there's no saying whether or not this specific initiative will be successful. The concept of digital marketplaces is well established as a successful model - and as anyone that has kids knows, there are few digital marketplaces with more engagement than Roblox Here's how it works- 1. Players visit the Walmart Discovered experience on Roblox. 2. They navigate to a shopable area within the experience, where they can select from 3 different products. 3. After hitting the "buy" button, a webpage opens up within Roblox to input payment and shipping info to complete the sale. 4. Upon completing their purchase, buyers receive a free digital version of their physical item, which their avatar can wear across Roblox. To start, Roblox will not be taking any cut or commission off of the sale - making this a low risk initiative for Walmart to try out. If successful, this creates the opportunity for Roblox to become a significant player in online commerce as a platform.

Roblox will introduce real-world commerce next year, and it’s going to be a key thing to watch in 2024: The Roblox flywheel already powers a thriving and growing virtual economy. By introducing real-world commerce (RWC), brands can engage with consumers in new ways, including driving revenue in a much more direct way than current brand activations. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘨𝘰𝘦𝘴, 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴. 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗼𝘅 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. Import and export will be an important growth lever for the Roblox economy, just like most other economies. I have Roblox RWC as one of the key things to watch in 2024.
