Many people will hate me for this, but I'll say it anyway: 𝟕𝟐% of employees leave a job due to a 𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜 work environment. At my company, TheBand, that percentage is 𝟗𝟕%. And it's for a good reason. At my company, I not only want toxicity, I 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 it. If you don't start at least 7 fights per week at the office, or if you don't have a criminal record or aren't currently pursuing one, or if you don't sell drugs as a side hustle, I don't want you working for me. "But that's insane, you can't do that!" says the weak minded individuals. To that, I ask: why wouldn't I want the toughest, most determined, most competitive people working in my team? If you can't show me that you're willing to take a life in order to advance in your career, you don't fit in with the vision of TheBand. Last week one of my new recruits tried to stab the lead sound technician with a 2H pencil. The original technician ended up lying face down on a puddle of blood, and the rookie earned his spot in the company. He proved he was worthy of having the job. I don't need any weakness at my company, and neither should you. What should you do if you find yourself in my workplace but not willing to take on the unconventional environment? The simplest answer would be: Leave, before it's too late. Otherwise, stay and tough it out, and you'll see why my company is the fastest growing company in 2024. #hiring #tech #unreal

LAB-IT Job vs Regular IT job Thechoice between a laboratory technician (Lab-IT) job and a regular IT job depends on various factors. Let’s explore both: Laboratory Technician (Lab-IT): Pros: Hands-On Work: Lab techs engage in practical tasks, conducting experiments, analyzing samples, and maintaining lab equipment. Learning Opportunities: Exposure to cutting-edge research and scientific techniques. Job Stability: Lab tech roles are essential in research, healthcare, and industry. Predictable Hours: Typically 9-5, with occasional weekends. Cons: Salary: Lab techs are often underpaid compared to industry standards1. Workload: Lab techs may work long hours and handle multiple responsibilities. Career Ceiling: Career progression may plateau at lab management roles. Physical Demands: While not backbreaking, lab work can be physically demanding. Salary Range: Lab techs earn around $30k-$60k annually, depending on location and experience. Regular IT Job: Pros: Higher Salaries: IT professionals often earn more than lab techs. Diverse Roles: IT encompasses various domains (development, cybersecurity, networking, etc.). Remote Work: Many IT jobs allow remote work. Career Growth: Opportunities for specialization and advancement. Cons: Stress: IT roles can be high-pressure due to deadlines and technical challenges. Certifications: Ongoing certification requirements. Changing Landscape: Constantly evolving technologies. Sedentary Lifestyle: IT work often involves sitting for extended periods. ** False Flag Engineering Titles ** I would like to know thoughts about misusing the "Engineer" job title. Shouldn't industry and all companies police themselves on this? This is just my opinion but I think that anyone with a job title containing "Engineer" should at minimum require a degree in engineering. And there should be a differentiation for those with the PE (Professional Engineer) certification. Also maybe a differentiation between a 2 year and 4 year degree. There are far too many "Software Engineers", QA Engineers", "Field Engineers", and "This and That Engineers" that not only do not hold an engineering degree, but some have no degree at all. This dilutes the title "Engineer" to almost a useless title that has no real meaning. Before I make a lot of people mad with this, I fully agree that there are many people with no degree at all that perform job duties probably better than many with engineering degrees. I don't mean to undermine those people because they are very valuable in industry and to their companies. And very good at what they do. I am merely saying that we should police ourselves and use job titles that are meaningful. In other industries, you have positions like PA's (Physician's Assistant). PA's are not doctors and are not allowed to sell themselves as doctors. But PA's are essential, extremely valuable, and the medical industry would not survive as well without them. But they are never allowed to impersonate a doctor. So titles matter. I'm betting there will be feedback about all the great people out there that would be chosen for the job ahead of an engineer any day. I agree. And again, I don't meant to undermine them. Finally and in summary, I am just saying that I think job titles matter. And better thought should be put into the use of the title "This Engineer" or "That Engineer". There is no shame in not being an engineer. Why not be a "Software Developer", as opposed to a "Software Engineer"? There is no shame in that. Why not be a "Field Technician", as opposed to a "Field Engineer"? Why don't we not false-flag job titles in order to falsely embellish our organizations or our personal resumes? We need some standards here.
