Generative AI is coming soon to a device near you. For many AI tasks, we don’t need huge models with hundreds of billions of parameters, wasting a lot of precious power resources coming up with ideas for your next LinkedIn post or summarizing an email thread. Small AI models (like Gemini Nano) are great for this, and the good news is that they will run on your own device (even the iPhone you’re reading this on). Google is bringing small AI models directly to Chrome, giving you the ability to offer ChatGPT-like features to your customers, but where no data ever leaves the client. It can even run when offline. Many customers are very concerned about sending sensitive data to OpenAI (and they should be!), so this is a promising development I think.

Full Stack Developer | React, JavaScript, Java, Spring/SpringBoot, SQL 🦊 Former zookeeper, 💉embryologist & house manager 📋
I've been working on a Chingu voyage over the last 4 weeks and I have learned SO much from the other developers I'm working with. This voyage is using an API from NASA of meteorite data and using that to create an app that allows users to visualize the data of meteors that have fallen around the globe. The 3 brilliant devs I've been working with have: 1. created an interactive map that gets your location and then shows you a map with varying sized bubbles correlated to meteor size 2. created charts that allow the user to change the parameters of the x and y axis to scale the data they are seeing (multiple types of charts too!) 3. wireframed the whole app and put it all together I created our About section and learned more CSS and (new to me) TailwindCSS to successfully work with fixed and relative positioning of avatars on a moon background - the avatars show mini bios of each of our team members when they are hovered over. In addition to using TailwindCSS for the first time, I also used MaterialUI for the first time. There are definite pros and cons compared to Bootstrap which is what I have been most familiar with styling-library wise up to this point. I was absolutely the least experienced on the team and was feeling really nervous about it, but everyone has been fantastically welcoming and helpful. No one batted an eyelash when I asked for help with my first pull request on GitHub and I can happily say I have merged a couple on my own since then! I also learned a ton about working with a team of developers and how to work in code that is not all mine. Small steps are still steps forward and like I used to say when I was running regularly, any movement is more than if I had just sat on the couch! We are on our last Sprint this week, and I can't wait to share the application we built once it is ready!

Understanding your audience and tailoring your website's search function to their needs is crucial. 🌐 I recently encountered an interesting example: a simple misspelling of "Star Wars" without a space led to zero search results. This highlights the importance of fine-tuning your search engine to account for such variations in user input. This scenario reminded me of a recent lesson I shared with my class on generative AI-style text mining algorithms. Just as in web search, it's vital to comprehend your audience's diverse expressions and build a comprehensive token catalog. By doing so, we ensure that our systems can effectively understand and serve our customers. Remember, meeting your audience where they are improves their experience and engagement with your platform. 🚀 #AudienceUnderstanding #WebSearch #UserExperience CultureFly https://lnkd.in/esmp--Q6

This is an online store based on the Astro framework, a faster, lighter, HTML-first framework that outputs zero JavaScript by default. Htmx is integrated into Astro to send AJAX requests directly from HTML. Alpine.js is used for client-side reactivity. * Implemented user authentication by means of Astro middleware * Implemented Astro's Islands architecture, integrating the React framework for the React Stripe Checkout component * Took advantage of Astro's latest feature, Page Partials, to render HTML content by fetching HTML fragments * Integrated Htmx into Astro to send AJAX requests directly from HTML * Showed how to use Htmx Extensions, such as multi-swap and response-targets, to enhance the app * Created Prisma schema for MongoDB * Implemented data validation with Zod to ensure the reliability of user input * Integrated Stripe payment service into the app * Enriched user interfaces with Bootstrap support for styling components * Used Alpine.js, a minimal tool, for composing behavior directly in markup GitHub Repository: https://lnkd.in/eeWk7s2a Video Link: https://lnkd.in/eN9p5pM2

🚨 HUGE out of Luma AI: ThreeJS and WebGL support for Luma reconstructions for web implementation. There are some pretty spectacular examples of shaders, fog, lighting, and other desirable web render effects. h/t Michael Rubloff @ Radiance Fields (NeRFs and Gaussian Splatting) "It’s time for photorealistic 3D to be everywhere on the web! 🌎 Introducing SaturnV: A Fullstack Geospatial Task Manager App 🌏 Meet SaturnV, my latest fullstack project and an ode to the iconic NASA rocket, Saturn Five! 🚀 This app simplifies task management with Google Maps, perfect for handling location-sensitive tasks. SaturnV's frontend is powered by Vite, while Python handles the backend. The integration with Google Maps API brings in features like street view, layering, and accurate geotagging down to street level. One standout feature I'm particularly proud of is the ability to pan and zoom into task locations. Check it out in action in the video below! While SaturnV is a significant achievement, there's always room for improvement. Dive into technical documentation and quirks in the repository here: https://lnkd.in/gcUzfK9x This was developed as part of an exam project at RevoU (with tons of new additions after the exam). Thus, I'd like to give a big shoutout to my mentor, Mas Dion Maulana Williawarma, for the guidance and support during the development process! 🙌🏻 Developing a fullstack app is a journey with its challenges, but it's been a fun ride in my software engineering adventure. Stay tuned for more updates! #fullstackdeveloper #reactjs #pythonprogramming #googlemaps #taskmanagement #gis
