I am incredibly happy and excited to share that I've just joined NVIDIA as Principal System Software Engineer - Open Source Python Ecosystem! Let me first give much gratitude to Snowflake. Though my time there was brief, it was enjoyable and fulfilling. Working with the great team there, we built libraries and tools that should delight Python developers using that platform. To my former colleagues, thank you for your passion and compassion, and for making challenging technical work so much fun. As a brand new NVIDIAN, I am heading out to #pycon2024 with an even deeper mission to engage with and give back to Python developers, its ecosystem, and the community. This is the 30th anniversary of my Python journey -- words that overwhelm me to write -- and it has been humbling and amazing to see how much Python has grown since that first workshop at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Python's future is brighter now than I think it's ever been. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your Python story, and most of all listening to your thoughts and experience. I may not be able to answer many questions about what exactly I'll be doing (as I'm quite literally still getting my bearings!), but together we can celebrate a language and community that means so much to all of us, and consider what it will take to keep Python relevant, fun, and exciting for the next 30 years. My deepest thanks to NVIDIA for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Of course, the views expressed in this post are solely my own. See you at PyCon 2024!

Ooh, that means we once again get to bug you with Python packaging concerns! I'm sure you are overjoyed by this prospect :) (nVidia are one of the culprits when it comes to publishing packages where different wheels contain different dependency metadata, rather than using environment markers to keep the metadata consistent across all the artifacts regardless of platform) Seriously though, congratulations! Good for you, and good for the ecosystem :)

Barry, congratulations on the new gig. I'm so glad I got to spend a few of the first 30 years working with you. It's amazing to think about everything you've done in 30 years and how your leadership has shaped the language and community.
