Recently, Keep, a representative of China's leading sports technology company, was invited to attend the Digital Sports Session of the 7th Digital China Summit, hosted by the General Administration of Sport of China. Keep shared its exclusive experience and views on the application of artificial intelligence in fitness. Li Xinyan, vice president of Keep, said that as workout becomes an increasingly personalized and sophisticated activity, virtual coaches or humanoid robots will appear at the homes of ordinary people in the future, accompanying and encouraging people to complete their training routines. This will make the training process easier and more enjoyable, and provide great value in terms of physical and emotional well-being for fitness enthusiasts. Keep is one of the first companies in China to introduce AI-assisted fitness training programs. It provides users with more systematic and personalized workout solutions through AI. At the same time, Keep is also the first company in China to draw personalized running routes based on users' running records, and along the recommended routes, users can explore unique cultural and natural landmarks. In March this year, Keep App released its new version 8.0, which supports more than 60 kinds of sports category records and more than 50 kinds of third-party equipment connection, aiming to promote a more open and comprehensive sports ecosystem through data interconnection, especially in the field of outdoor activities. The new version of the app enhances the sports experience through personalized route recommendations for navigation, AIGC content production and other technological means, enriching the value of fitness data. Going forward, Keep will continue to increase its investment in AI. With a strong database and algorithmic capabilities, it will provide users with more professional fitness guidance, records, and interactive services. Keep also emphasized in its latest annual report that in the future, it will actively explore opportunities to apply AI technology in overseas markets and drive innovation with AI to provide users with a more innovative exercise experience, thereby attracting new user groups and exploring new commercialization opportunities.

Enhancing value and engaging employees through effective training and development programs. Author. Public Speaker.
How artificial intelligence will disrupt the fitness industry: It won’t Soon, a number of industries will be disrupted by AI & robotic automation, what does that mean for fitness? AI can mine data for targeted marketing campaigns and AI will generate exercise programs but other than those uses, AI will have minimal impact on fitness. Scott Galloway the host of the Prof G & Pivot pods, speaks about the need for human interaction and connectivity - and that’s exactly what our industry provides and should double down on: direct human connection and amazing experiences based on physical activity. Very few other industries offer the same level of POSITIVE person-to-person as fitness, THAT is our value proposition. Could AI write workout programs? Sure, in fact if there are any app developers reading this, I have a few ideas for a killer app, but outside of structuring the variables of program design, there is no algorithm in this multiverse that can replace direct human connection for providing the motivation and guidance to exercise. Humans need humans to help them learn how to move and motivate them to move at intensity. That said, after attending IDEA Health & Fitness Association fitness education conference, we need to recognize that how we deliver fitness education has changed. One thing we need to stop saying is that “we’re back.” Back to what? Typically the biggest challenge in our industry is that we do things because, “that’s the way we’ve always done them,” and that is a loser’s thought process because winners are ALWAYS seeking ways to change and improve. Kai-zen is the principle of continuous improvement, we should ALWAYS be seeking opportunities to grow, evolve and, yes, change. It’s not at all clear what the future of fitness and, more specifically, fitness education looks like but one thing is for certain, it won’t be what it was and that is okay. There is AMAZING education content on the socials and THAT is where our members, instructors, trainers and future fitness professionals are going for their information so we have to accept that and learn to leverage it. A big opportunity is getting younger fit pros in our industry to recognize the value of attending live learning events; yes, it is possible to have a productive virtual learning experience but NOTHING beats the chance to connect, network and hang out with other professionals in your industry in 3D. We can take comfort in the fact that robots and algorithms will not replace humans in the gym, but we do have to recognize that it IS 2023 and we have changed and that is a good thing. Gyms, studios and boot camps are the places to come for positive human social interaction, I see a return to the 80s when health clubs had nightclubs in them. We will be the growth industry of the future, but we have to look for new opportunities to engage our members in more than just a workout. Agree? Disagree? Please share your thoughts &insights

Consumers are engaging with fitness content in new and exciting ways! According to a new Les Mills report (https://lnkd.in/gTyNTrwG): - 30% of gen Z are regularly using fitness facilities - 72% of regular exercisers are doing both gym and out of gym workouts - 44% of regular exercisers use paid fitness apps outside of the gym Fitness businesses need to meet their clients where they are whether that is in the gym, at home, at a local park, or in a national park. The modern fitness business needs: - An Omnichannel content distribution system (i.e. a web, mobile, and smart TV application) - A scalable way to handle private training when clients are scattered across the globe - A community-first online space for their students & clients to engage with one another - Insights into what their global community is resonating with or struggling with to inform content decisions & lessons - Some way to do the above without spending $300k+ and 6+ months to get a custom application made Lucky for them, all of this, and more, is provided by the swōl platform!

Military Fitness Coach | Founder of Sqwod and Sqwod Pod | On a mission to help 1M fitness creators build their Sqwod
Fitness Industry 10+ years ago: - Limited Accessibility: Fitness facilities and expert guidance were primarily available to those who could afford gym memberships or personal trainers. - Lack of Personalization: One-size-fits-all approach dominated workout routines and nutrition plans, ignoring individual differences and preferences. - Inadequate Technology Integration: Fitness tracking and data analysis tools were limited, and those available lacked integrations. - Minimal Online Presence: Top fitness creators and virtual training options were pretty much limited to Youtube and DVDs. Fitness Industry today: - Increased Accessibility: More affordable fitness options have emerged, including budget-friendly gyms like Planet Fitness home workout apps like Sqwod, and private fitness spaces like Sqwod Pod, making it accessible to a wider demographic. - Personalization and Customization: Advanced algorithms and AI-driven platforms offer tailored workout and nutrition plans, considering factors such as goals, fitness level, and dietary preferences. IMO, Future and Freeletics are leading the charge. - Advanced Technology Integration: Wearable fitness devices and mobile apps allow individuals to track their activities, monitor health metrics, and receive real-time feedback for more effective workouts. @Rook is leading here. - Abundant Virtual and Online Resources: The rise of the fitness creator, influencers, and online communities has enabled people to engage in workouts and connect with fitness experts from anywhere. Guys like @danfounder are creating some of the best content on the internet on a consistent basis. I don’t care what anyone says—the fitness industry is changing for the better.

Whoop & Other Premium Fitness Bands - what is their actual value add? ⚽ I got a Whoop band 2 months ago. It’s a fitness wearable used by elite athletes: Olympians, and World Champions across all sports. Whoop itself is valued at $3.6B as of 2021, and invested in by VCs such as Softbank. 🎾 I used to pursue tennis professionally. I was ranked Top 10 in India and Top 200 globally in U-18’s. And when I stopped playing because of injury, it took me time to figure out how to approach fitness and keep active as an ex-athlete. When you’re pursuing sport professionally, you’re training 5-6 hours a day, 6 - 7 days a week. There’s no question of not training, unless you’re sick or injured. Skipping training because you’re tired is not an option. ⚾ I didn’t understand how to account for tiredness that comes from working. I’d train everyday, regardless of sleep / work strain. And that’s not sustainable. The first 2 years after I stopped playing, I ended up losing weight because of overtraining. 🏀 After using Whoop, in my opinion, the REAL value of fitness bands is not as a “tracker” for HR, or steps walked. It’s to understand yourself better, and for metrics such as % recovery, what contributes more / less to it and how much you can push yourself. 🏏 Whoop personalizes data by taking 2 weeks to calibrate metrics and the impact of activities. For ex: Some people depend more on sleep, so they HAVE to get 7-8 hours to operate efficiently. Others are sensitive to mealtimes; if they sleep less, they’re okay, but if they don’t eat on time their recovery is impacted. I found that for me morning workouts are correlated to better recoveries as compared to evening workouts. 🏈 Another benefit of Whoop is that it tells me the total strain my body was under, (which is not limited to physical activity, you can be under strain even when you’re not training). It also analyzes my activity before sleep, and the sleep itself, to show % recovery and the day’s optimal strain. 🏑 Since I’ve been using the band, I’ve been able to use data to understand how much to push myself. A lot of us do this by “feel.” There have been times when I feel mentally exhausted, and don’t feel like training. But based on Whoop stats, I’m still within my strain threshold. So I’ve trained. And in some cases have ended up hitting a PB, vs not working out at all. 🏐 Fitness trackers need to transition to analytics. Apart from Whoop, there are others such as Oura (smart rings, valued at $2.5B in 2022), and Ultrahuman (smart rings and glucose monitoring patches). And the market is niche. A one time cost for the band will never work. Whoop has cracked this with a subscription model (~$30 / month) which others (Apple, Fitbit, Garmin) have also embraced. But if the premium subscription is worth the analytics is still a question. Check out my article on the global sports and the wearable market here: https://lnkd.in/g8NXcU8M
