The life of an academic researcher is full of challenges and excitement. There are different kinds of moments when you feel satisfied, and that your goals in life are really reached. One obvious example is when your scientific work is published in a peer-reviewed journal. Almost five years ago, I got involved in a different kind of experience, taking part in establishing our QKD company QuantLR. Taking care of a startup company has some similar challenges to academic research, but the new ones were the main motivation behind getting involved in this project. Yesterday, I had such a novel moment of satisfaction. I saw the server rack in QuantLR’s lab full of the various versions of our product LoQomo1 in different stages of setting up, to be delivered to our customers. It has Alices (qTx) and Bobs (qRx) communicating over the C-band as well as the O-band, and even some boxes that contain both Alice and Bob together. Even when you are imagining a picture in your dreams for a long time, when you do get to see it finally realized in real life, you are surprised by the actual excitement.

One month into my return to school after 7 years, and the Innovation Science course has already reshaped my view on tech innovation. We're deep into the concept of lily padding, especially around 6G technology—identifying "low hanging fruits" through purpose-context maps and Significance-Headroom graphs. This approach bridges my startup event experiences with academic insights, highlighting the strategic paths for 6G's potential impact. Revisiting the science and theory has reignited my passion for learning and connecting theory with real-world application.
