It’s a bittersweet week. After 4.5 years at Matchnode, I’ve decided to pursue another exciting opportunity (more to come on that). For now, I want to reminisce on all of the accomplishments we’ve made and the hurdles I’ve overcome in my time working at this incredibly agile agency. From landing the Chicago Blackhawks as a client to helping the 1440 Daily Digest crew efficiently scale their newsletter subscriber base, to carving a creative strategist role out for myself and building a rockstar creative team, to grinding through the uncertainty the pandemic brought and expanding our team globally, I have so much to be grateful for and MANY memories to look back on fondly. I'm particularly thankful to Chris Madden & Brian Davidson for their mentorship and guidance, and to Kristen Dolson and Jessica V. for their support and collaboration. I've learned so much from each of you, and I'm a better professional for it. And to the rest of the team, you guys are killing it. So excited to see where you take Matchnode from here. 🚀 While this is goodbye for now, I'm confident that our paths will cross again in the future. If you’re ever in a pinch for a witty social caption, you know where to find me 😉 And with that, I’ll leave you with some lessons I’ve learned along the way: - If you don’t know how to do something, nothing is stopping you from learning how to do it. - Use your data to help tell a story instead of simply looking at numbers.  - Test & learn. Repeat.  - Mistakes will be made. It’s how you learn from those mistakes that matter. - Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself. - Sometimes, if you’re lucky, work friends turn into lifelong friends.

Codiga: how it started. In the following weeks, I will share my learnings from building Codiga. You may think Codiga started in 2021 with Techstars, but it really started in 2018. At the time, I thought it will take me only a few months to bootstrap a profitable business while still being employed at Twitter (some may find my blatant naivety cute). It's only in 2021 that I understood I needed to go all-in. It is when I quitted Twitter, moved to Colorado, joined Techstars, hired more people and got *really* serious about this whole thing. The majority of the decisions I made were mistakes. And there are still days when I do not believe this story got a successful landing. This post is an introduction about why I started a company. Sharing my experience - how ego hinders work. Eight months ago, I joined the Tinkoff team with a strong desire to prove myself and demonstrate my value. I was eager to make a meaningful impact. I quickly identified a problem that seemed worth solving. It was a creative solution that initially worked well, but over time, it became a cumbersome process, using up resources and causing huge inconvenience. Solving this problem will significantly streamline the editorial process, expedite the release, and become a noteworthy addition to my portfolio. Over the next month and a half, I immersed myself in understanding the technical aspects of our business unit. I delved into analytics, collaborated with other product teams, sought advice from experts in other tech companies, and created a substantial amount of documentation in Confluence. This effort led to a solution that met the requirements, but it was complex and, truthfully, a bit intimidating to implement. However, I believed the value it would bring would be well worth it. While discussing the solution with our analytics lead (since the problem was closely related), he pointed out another, much simpler option. After discussing it with the team, we realized that this simpler approach could be just as effective. I was surprised - I had been so determined to achieve something monumental that I had overlooked a straightforward and elegant solution. (which, in fact, is even cooler). I won’t say that I wasted my time - it allowed me to get on board faster. This closes my first month in the Solopreneurship adventure, and here are some highlights: 🏢 Worked with 3 different B2B clients 📰 Published weekly posts on the Newsletter 📈 Growth both on LI and on the Newsletter is above forecast 🤝 I've signed my first 2 clients for individual coaching and mentoring 🆓 I've scheduled the first 3 sessions of complimentary coaching and mentoring for people impacted by layoffs 🗣️ Spoke with a lot of old friends, interesting prospects, and peers in the industry 💰 Generated revenues in line with the forecast! But this is nothing compared to what I loved the most about this month. ✈️ I had to take care of my kids for 10 days while my wife traveled for personal reasons. 😷 They've been sick one after the other during the entire period. 💪🏼 As I handled the situation with zero stress and prioritized their well-being, I realized the real perk of this new lifestyle.
