Graduation is almost here and we are so proud of our incredible class of 2024! In only a few short days, our graduates will join the ranks of our amazing alumni, who are making a huge impact in communities around the nation. Ahead of our June 8 ceremony, we’re celebrating the BVP alumni bringing about positive change. Today, we would like to introduce Daniella Magana. Daniella graduated from BVP in 2019 and Boston University in 2023, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation. Born and raised in Central Falls, Daniella is the first in her immediate family to graduate from college. She credits her time at BVP for preparing her for the unprecedented challenges of being a student during the pandemic. “Academically, learning through the summit portal during my time in high school pushed me to work on my time management skills from a young age. Learning electronically at the time was something that I didn’t realize was going to be such an important skill later on,” said Daniella. “When COVID interrupted my time in college and I was home having to take full course semesters, I was lucky enough to already have some experience with taking notes from an online source.” Daniella currently works for the Mayor of Pawtucket and hopes to continue a career in public service. She says her ties to BVP remain strong to this day. “I think students like me are very lucky to attend a small school like BVP because of the attention and support. There are so many resources available that mentors help guide you towards. Some of the mentors I met during my high school years at BVP are still mentors that continue to play a crucial role in my life,” she said. #alumniimpacts #bvp #decidebelieveachieve

Unlocking New Horizons: An Alternative Look at Educational Pathways 🚀 Today, I had a conversation with two concerned parents navigating their child's academic challenges. 📘 Their child, currently preparing for the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) through online studies, faced not with curriculum difficulties but isolation and pressures from traditional schooling environments. ➡️🖥️ Their story highlights the critical need to explore alternative educational options like the Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC), which mirrors university learning. This encourages self-driven research and an open-ended approach, offering a pathway to university without the traditional ATAR score. The TPC enables students to achieve a Tertiary Entrance Score (TES), allowing for applications to universities through UAC. With partnerships at institutions like Western Sydney University and Charles Sturt University, achieving a score equivalent to an ATAR of 57 opens doors to numerous courses. This valuable alternative, offers diverse opportunities for students. For more information on the TPC, check out the details on the TAFE NSW website. https://lnkd.in/g5U-ikTx My own experiences, detailed in a post about my children’s journey through the TPC, attest to its effectiveness. https://lnkd.in/eM8JJjPN The parents were surprised and encouraged to learn about the TPC, highlighting a gap in awareness. Despite our best efforts, the message doesn't always reach everyone. As educators and advisors, spotlighting these alternative paths is crucial to ensuring that students and their families are aware of all their options. 🤝💡 I invite you, my network, to share your stories. Have you or someone you know navigated alternative educational pathways like the TPC? What was your experience? Your insights could light the way for others considering their options. 💬👥 Let’s keep this conversation going and ensure every student knows there are multiple paths to success, each tailored to different learning styles and life situations. ✨🛤️ #EducationForAll #LifelongLearning #AlternativePathways #TPC #AustralianEducation #StudentSuccess #HigherEducation #CareerPathways #UniPrep #PathwayToSuccess #wsu #csu

🙌 ACUE Days of Thanks 🙌 As we continue our ACUE Days of Thanks, we are grateful for the commitment that #highereducation institutions and #faculty have made utilizing effective teaching practices for #studentsuccess. Whether you are Certified in the ACUE Framework or are currently taking the course, we are thankful for your dedication. We especially love to hear about faculty experiences. Most recently, on Friday, November 17, our partners at The University of Southern Mississippi hosted a pinning ceremony to honor faculty accomplishments, including: • 32 recipients of the Certificate in Effective Teaching Practice Framework • 4 recipients of the Advanced Certificate in the Effective Teaching Practice Framework • 23 participants who successfully completed the Fostering a Culture of Belonging Course Here is what a few of the faculty members had to say about their experience: 〰 "ACUE has helped me to rethink the way I organize my courses, interact with my students, and engage them in their courses. I have gotten several ideas and action points that I have worked on or plan to work on. I also love that ACUE helps me to learn from my colleagues in the university. Overall, it has been an awesome three semesters of learning." 〰 "It is hard to put into words how much I have enjoyed going through the ACUE experience. Whether it was learning about how to teach more inclusively, to meeting new colleagues, to sharing successes and stresses each week we met, I have gained so much from going through this program. It has truly been a remarkable experience, and I know I am a better instructor because of it." 〰 "ACUE is a professional development opportunity that allowed me to befriend discomfort while learning how to intentionally create environments of belonging among my advisees and colleagues. I have connected and learned with individuals from across the university, which I may not have had the chance to do otherwise. My key takeaway is ensuring that the information obtained from this ACUE course is implemented and maintained in a manner that is sustainable in the impact of my work and amongst my colleagues, department, and school as a whole." 📌 To learn more about USM’s commitment, visit https://lnkd.in/gGRXzMTQ. 💬 Join the conversation during #ACUEDaysOfThanks and share with us: In what ways does your institution go above and beyond for students?

My experience at the UK College of Business and Computing (UKCBC) has been one of transformation and enrichment. From the time I first stepped on to the campus. I was met with a warm and supportive community that is filled with such a diverse group of people, all working toward growth in education and personal growth. With their field expertise and enthusiasm for teaching, UKCBC’s faculty are not just scholars. They are also committed educators who exert the extra effort to make sure that their students understand the ideas they teach, and they provide students with knowledge that can be practically used in the world beyond university walls for BTEC. Through their professional experiences and commitment to being teachers above all else, they gave me key perspectives and direct, useful knowledge about having a career. The focus on practical learning at UKCBC sets it apart. The modules are how these should be and the practical skills you gain alongside the theoretical teachings really intensify your understanding of the business units. Throughout my time at UKCBC, one of the most amazing things has been the chance to make new friends and have fun. One thing I have learned is that there are some amazing students that go here. There’s a diverse student body at UKCBC where you can meet and connect with many different students from many different cultures and backgrounds. Participating in events and hanging out in student lounges has also been a great way to meet students. There is always something fun to attend on our school’s calendar. The lasting friendships I have made in college have been one of the most important things that I will take away. The bonds I have with these people I trust will last me a lifetime. Studying at UKCBC has allowed me to meet a lot of amazing people, that I know will be my lifelong friends. Today represents a 'gateway' day for the amazing Loreto graduates of the 'Class of 2023', as they transition from the classroom to the big, wide world. Their hard work up to this point has enabled them to acquire a set of skills, qualifications, subject results and tertiary ranks that will enable them to successfully take the 'next step' in their individual journey. It is also a day to recognise the collective effort and importance of 'team'. These amazing outcomes would not be possible without the support of parents, carers, teaching staff and school support staff. The Curriculum Leadership Team, the Year Co-ordinators and senior teachers all deserve recognition for their efforts to build the capacity of each of our seniors. These educators have provide the creativity, critical thinking, research skills and perseverance that will enable our seniors to thrive in the world beyond Loreto. I am delighted to share that the 2023 cohort has achieved the best overall academic results in the history of Loreto College Coorparoo, with over a third of eligible students (36%) receiving an ATAR of 95 or above and 53% of eligible students achieving an ATAR of 90 or above. The College's median ATAR was 91.8. The College is pleased to report that 65% of all General Subject Results were 80% and above, and 92% of all General Subject Results were either an A or a B. 100% of all General and Applied Subject Results were either an A, B or C. Our commitment to supporting a diverse range of pathways is evident in that 100% of all graduating students have attained a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). All students in the 2023 cohort have exited with certification. Furthermore, 9% of students graduated with a Diploma and 29% gained a Certificate III or IV. The College recognises the 23 students (18% of QTAC applicants) who have received early offers for tertiary study and the 3 students who have already been awarded scholarships. #proudtobeloreto #QCAA #team #educationalleadership #educationalexcellence #21stcenturyskills #vocationaleducation

Embracing Reflections in the World of UPSC Institutions 🌐✨ Ever found yourself surrounded by the dynamic landscape of educational institutions, each flaunting new initiatives and courses? It sparks a series of questions : 🔍 Are we lagging behind somewhere when compared to others ? 💡 What steps can elevate us to compete with others ? 💰 Is our profitability comparable to that particular institution? are they really making good profits ? 🤔 so many admissions to the particular one why not to us ? However, amidst these musings, I propose a shift in perspective: 🌟 UPSC INSTITUTIONS should be akin to aspirants — competing with oneself rather than others. 💪 It's not about the number of students but the institution's efficacy in helping individuals succeed. 🔄 Consistency is key; it's where many falter. But above all, the paramount focus should be on initiatives that EMPOWER Aspirants — making them qualitative and competitive, enhancing their advantage rather than glorifying the institution. In the pursuit of wisdom, I've observed a shift: UPSC institutions seem geared towards enrollment numbers. I believe the emphasis should be reversed — a commitment to quality over quantity, ensuring that every aspirant's journey is transformative, empowered and successful Let's steer the course towards excellence, where success is measured by the growth of Aspirants , not just the institution's numbers. 💪🌟 #UPSC #Education #QualityOverQuantity #AspirantJourney #InstitutionalExcellence
