Yesterday afternoon, Governor McKee and Commissioner Infante-Green publicly designated BVP an Advanced Placement (AP) Champion! BVP is one of six public high schools in Rhode Island to receive this designation, which recognizes public shcools in the state that have meaningfully increased student access to AP courses. BVP HS teacher Andrew Rocca and senior scholar Alex Alvarado-Rivas were featured speakers during the event, in which Mr. Rocca was able to showcase the success of BVP's High School AP Capstone program, one of the most established AP programs in the state! We are so grateful to the Governor and Commissioner for recognizing the hard work of our public school teachers and scholars, and we offer our heartfelt congratulations to all of the AP Champion designees! #DecideBelieveAchieve #BVPHS

Real stories from real people about how #RPL can transform careers
When TV presenter, producer, broadcaster, activist, designer, and well-known Irish personality Brendan Courtney discovered the #RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) process, he embarked on a life-changing journey in higher education. The RPL process allowed him to have his diverse skills and talents recognised, enabling him to pursue a qualification in an area he is passionate about. University was not an option for Brendan after leaving school, but he always aspired to achieve a higher education qualification. He seized the opportunity to apply for the MA in Business in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (Level 9) at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology. In this video, Brendan discusses the importance of the RPL process and the support he received at IADT helped him reflect on and value his formal, informal, and non-formal learning experiences. By his own admission, Brendan says that without RPL, he wouldn't have the Master's qualification that has given him the confidence to thrive and pursue his passion. Sincere thanks to Brendan for sharing his story with us. Every RPL journey is unique, making RPL impactful as it bridges various disciplines and career types. Thanks also to our project lead Rebecca Roper for bringing this wonderful story together and sharing it with us, and to colleague Louisa Keogh for making this possible! We hope that you enjoy watching this video and hearing his story as much as we did! 🔗 Find out more about RPL at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology here: https://lnkd.in/eAWanAqj #YourLearningCounts #RPL #LifelongLearning #HCIPillar3 #IADT Higher Education Authority Technological Higher Education Association (THEA) Irish Universities Association Atlantic Technological University Technological University of the Shannon Dundalk Institute of Technology South East Technological University Technological University Dublin Munster Technological University Dublin City University Trinity College Dublin University College Dublin University of Galway University of Limerick Maynooth University University College Cork

In today's Tes The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) CEO RICHARD GILL CBE D.Univ, who is also Chair of the Teaching School Hubs Council, talks about why merging ITT and ECF will boost new teachers’ skills. He says the latest refinements to the teacher development frameworks are another step in the right direction. "As a trust leader, I have learned that for all the challenges a child might face, it is consistently good teaching that is central to achieving this. And carefully designed, evidence-based professional development is fundamental in helping every teacher to develop and strengthen their practice." #ITTECF https://lnkd.in/ei54JWz3

The AP exam season is coming up. Let's make sure we're providing our students with the support they need to succeed: 📚 Help students find free/low-cost AP study guides and practice exams online. Khan Academy is a great free resource. 💸 Remind students to take advantage of College Board fee waivers if cost is a barrier. 👥 Suggest students form study groups with peers - this can make prep more collaborative and fun. 👋 Check in with students regularly as exams approach. Let them know you're available for help and encouragement. By ensuring access and promoting community, we can set up our students for AP exam success. This is one important step on their path to higher education. 🎓 #APExams #StudyTips #Accessibility #EquityInEducation #StudentSuccess #CollegeReadiness #FeeWaivers #Advisors

[Quality Physical Education (QPE) Handbook] Drawing from UNESCO's comprehensive QPE guidelines, this handbook is a testament to my dedication to advancing Physical Education (PE). During my academic years, I recognized the need to bridge theory with practical implementation in QPE. While I lacked the capacity to formulate QPE policies, I envisioned a solution – a handbook tailored for PE teachers, adapted from UNESCO. My work, registered in Intellectual Property Rights, is meticulously designed to aid PE teachers in seamlessly integrating QPE into their teaching practices. It provides detailed guidance on QPE concepts, principles, and effective teaching strategies, empowering teachers with the knowledge and skills to elevate PE education through QPE integration. Hopefully this handbook can have a positive impact on the world of education #PhysicalEducation #QPE #QualityPhysicalEducation #UNESCO #EducationForAll #PJOK

Last month we published our annual report. This video looks at all 3 stages of the ‘golden thread’ of teacher development: 1️⃣ initial teacher education (ITE) 2️⃣ early career framework (ECF) 3️⃣ national professional qualifications (NPQs) You can read the report here: https://lnkd.in/eEcDH_x4 And the teacher development chapter here: https://lnkd.in/e3YuGqXQ Our inspections of ITE found some good practice. Many trainees found the experience positive. 77% of age-phase ITE providers inspected under our new framework were good or outstanding. This year, we also inspected all six ECF lead providers: 👉 Four were outstanding 👉 Two were good We will start full inspections of NPQ lead providers next spring. Most early career teachers we spoke to have had a positive experience of their training. They said they are getting the knowledge, understanding and skills they need. We are also very pleased to see continuing improvements in training teachers to teach early reading. This is true at early years, primary, and secondary phases. #Ofsted #AnnualReport #TeacherDevelopment

We are proud to be a Level 2 AP Pacesetter recipient. This means 20% or more of all students participated in at least one AP exam and 65% or more of those students earn scores of 3 or above on the exams. To put this into perspective, there are 831 high schools in Wisconsin. 17 schools received level one and 38 schools received level 2. Way to go Wolverines! #publicschools #highschool #academics
