With the 3 hottest months on record over the summer, and August 2023 being 1.5 degreees hotter than an August pre-industrialisation, any diluation of net zero commitments stands as a betrayal to future generations. Sarah’s points here are well made and the UK Govt must recognise the critical juncture we are at.
Following today's statement from the Prime Minister, our Managing Director, Sarah McIntosh said:

After several prime ministers in quick succession its felt like we’ve had a new one each week (well, almost). Why has the office of prime minister become so Impossible? Why did Liz Truss lose to a lettuce? Who actually brought down Boris Johnson? (spoiler: himself) How have the 57 inhabitants of Number 10 succeeded, failed, inspired and, depressed us? What can we learn from these peculiar characters and the history of the office? In our new work, Anthony Seldon and I explore this and much more, spanning a rich 303-year history of our leaders and nation. Our central aim is to show what can be learnt, and how, importantly, we can IMPROVE the office of prime minister so it becomes a little less impossible. In an increasingly dangerous world this is more important than ever. The NEW Impossible Office is out in March 2024, published by Cambridge University Press, and can be pre-ordered now! This country is warped and statistics tell you everything. 40.1% of voting population are so disillusioned they didn’t even turn up to vote Labour represent 35% and hold a majority whilst 65% voted against Labour but hold very few seats Reform got 3.9 million votes and got 4 seats, liberals got 3.4 million but got 61 seats. Reform held 16.9% of voting turnout whilst Labour held 35% and yet one has four seats and the other has 410. How is this representing people. This is a flawed system and shows how corrupt the media aligned with this system really is. Proportional representation would have seen at least 104+ seats for reform more than the liberals and half of Labour vote. This is why 40% don’t vote at all - because the system is floored or people are just so disillusioned by the this country they see no need to. My son voted yesterday and he thought he was voting on who would be in power - local and regional voting systems are dated back to when there were lords of the manor and peasants only had a right to express themselves in that area. Britain is digitally connected and people should be voting for a house that represents the voting population - it ensures we all get a say. Instead all those votes that cry out to be heard are now silenced by a left wing minority
For Sir Keir Starmer, the hard part is about to begin. Here are some of the significant events and challenges facing Britain’s new prime minister in his first 100 days in office. https://on.ft.com/4buwpXd

Is the only action that will sort out our politics & our politicians a People led Revolution.....??? Having a General Election is only going to ratify that the people of the UK are happy with the way our country is run......... Well, I am not and I do not want another General Election to keep the Status Quo. The Status Quo being - (1) The House of Commons - Needs to be innovated (2) The House of Lords - Needs abolishing (3) Ability to say something and then not carry it out as promised (4) Not answer a direct question (5) Have Un-Elected Prime Ministers in number 10. This all has to change and quickly. Yes, the UK is on its knees due to bad Governments, but also due to our inaction & acceptance alongside the lack of innovation in processes and systems within Government By voting in General Elections we are, by proxy, giving the rubber stamp to the Status Quo..... So, the choice is very simple - its only two scenarios Scenario 1 - A party comes forward and promises to change the system that is broken, outdated & not fit for purpose...... Then there is a viable alternative to vote for in a General Election. Scenario 2 - The public of the UK are forced to revolt. Its over to you Westminster #HMGovernment #conservativeparty #labourparty #liberaldemocrates #greenparty
Jackie Long, "Rishi Sunak is saying things that are simply not factual, isn't that a worry, coming from a Prime Minister?" Theresa May, "He's delivering for the British people" When a former PM cannot be honest and sincere about a current PM, what does it say about the quality of political leadership in the UK?

🌟 DID YOU KNOW? 🌟 In a historic turn of events, the United Kingdom's political landscape has achieved unprecedented diversity at the highest echelons of power! 🇬🇧 With Vaughan Gething's recent election in Wales, three out of the four UK countries now boast non-white leaders. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, of Indian descent, leads the nation, while Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf brings his Pakistani heritage to Scotland's helm. What's more remarkable is that Northern Ireland, the fourth nation, is led by not one, but two women, making the top tier of political offices in all four UK countries devoid of white men. This extraordinary diversity marks a significant milestone, reflecting the evolving tapestry of leadership in the UK. 🌍💼 #DiversityInLeadership #UnitedKingdom #LeadershipMatters #EqualityAndInclusion

Interesting article.
If elected, Keir Starmer would be the first PM since the War to have completed his first degree at an English university other than Oxford (Leeds). The son of a toolmaker and nurse, he is highly unusual in having strong working-class credentials and has vowed to “shatter the class ceiling”. My analysis on the backgrounds of our Prime Ministers and how this shapes their priorities in power.
