Both relative and absolute income change play an important role in philanthropy’s impact measurement toolkit. 🧰 Our director of impact measurement and analytics, Spencer MacColl, explained the importance of both measures through this example: Imagine there are two programs that increase lifetime earnings by $1,500 — one is located in the U.S. and one in Kenya. 🌍 The absolute dollar income increase of these two programs is the same, but the relative income increase for the program participants in Kenya is 150%, compared to 5% for participants in the U.S. We recently added relative income change to our measurement strategy. 📈 We’re excited to see how it will open new possibilities to fund work that meaningfully transforms lifetime incomes, especially in low-income communities around the world. Watch the video below for a full explanation from our resident expert. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/e6GnCUqd #impactmeasurement #philanthropy #funding #socialimpact

Developmental evaluations are one of the best practices I've seen for implementing a close tie between #strategy and #learning throughout a program or initiative--in private, social, and public sector initiatives. Learn more about what #developmentalevaluation is below from my FSG Asia colleagues. #sle #strategiclearning #evaluation #socialinnovation #impact FSG
Since Developmental Evaluation (DE) supports learning and adaptation for social innovations, foundations and nonprofits can use this evaluation approach to remain committed to results and get the data they need without bringing innovation to a halt. DE is used by funders who support collaborative, complex, evolving change processes. Does Developmental Evaluation fit your initiative?
