Recognizing when we do something well is important. Celebrating success is valuable. I just think every play of every game is a little too much celebrating. It also doesn't help us 'win the war' nearly as much as we think it does. #ChopChop Check out "Surrender the Outcome" on Amazon and our latest blog post at https://lnkd.in/dSM38-vQ

1044% revenue growth + 96% ROAS lift in 4 months. In this economy? Yes, really. | Marketing & Ecommerce Consultant for DTC Brands | Ex-Amazon & Nutrafol | Feat. in Forbes
Today's the six-year anniversary of my last day at Amazon and that time has absolutely flown by. I learned a ton during my four years there, and there are many practices I still use in my work today. Here's one: the WBR, or Weekly Business Review. Each week, each business unit would put together a doc outlining the prior week's performance, key drivers of that performance, and actions being taken based on that. Then the business team (often including everyone from channel specialists up to the business leader) would meet to review and discuss. Every. Single. Week. Thinking about it now, it can seem like a huge investment of time and energy. And for small teams, it can be easy to dismiss because "we all know what's going on with performance." But I think carving out time to focus on performance each week, to really dig into what's driving the business, and to make sure people at all levels of the business have visibility into those drivers is so important for long-term success. #marketing #marketingperformance #growth

😢 There seem to be a lot of complaints from Episode 104, #TuckerCarlson. If someone is dissatisfied with Amazon Marketplace, they should consider going to DTC. 💬 Amazon Marketplace offers many valuable tools to help sellers sell their products. 💬 When considering direct-to-consumer sales, it's important to take into account the costs associated with using third-party logistics providers, negotiating shipping rates, acquiring traffic, and converting customers. 🍻 However, it's crucial to remember that customers are the most important aspect of any business. Without customers, there will be no orders for sellers to fulfill. 🤠Regarding Amazon, I do not perceive them as a monopoly. Rather, I see them like a shopping mall where the mall provides traffic, lighting, and outdoor maintenance, while the tenant pays rent. If the tenant requires more storage space, the mall will charge them for it. https://lnkd.in/ghkzbkeC

Today, Amazon boasts over 200 million paying Prime members. Interestingly, this idea originated from a frustrated engineer, faced initially with abysmal financial projections, and it was deemed by experts as a fundamentally flawed strategy. Amazon's groundbreaking loyalty program has been a cornerstone of its meteoric growth over the years. Yet, at its inception, the concept was considered radical. Many senior leaders deemed it excessively risky, and shareholders were genuinely concerned that it could jeopardize the entire company. The concept of 'all-you-can-eat' two-day delivery for just $79/year seems standard now, but in the early days of e-commerce, it was revolutionary and entirely unprecedented. The financial uncertainties were significant: "Our most loyal customers will cost us a fortune!" "If too many people abuse it, we could go bankrupt!" Ultimately, the decision to launch Prime was driven more by intuition than data. It promised an exceptional experience for customers and aimed to encourage more frequent purchases. However, the overwhelming success of Prime was unforeseen. It took years for the program to gain momentum, but it ultimately reshaped Amazon's trajectory and history. The simple annual fee model changed customer behavior dramatically; once members paid their fee, they were motivated to maximize their investment—a testament to human nature. Now, twenty years later, we can view the launch of Prime as a masterclass in customer obsession—a poignant reminder of the value of testing new ideas, even amidst doubt. For Amazon, launching Prime was a gamble. In the worst case, they would retract the service. As Jeff Bezos later reflected: "We don’t have enough time to list all our failed experiments, but it’s the big winners, like Prime, that pay for thousands of failed experiments." The takeaway? True innovation stems from relentless experimentation. If you fear being wrong, you'll find it challenging to create anything truly original. #AmazonPrime #Innovation #CustomerObsession #BusinessStrategy #Leadership #JeffBezos #Ecommerce --- https://lnkd.in/dQWnHGFv

Found this flyer today. It’s 20 years old. This was my first #brochure when I started 20 years ago. Jeff Bezos was interviewed sometime ago and the interviewer asked what is the future of #amazon. He said I can’t predict the future. But I can tell you three things. 1. Our #customers will always want it #faster. 2. Our customers will always want a better price (cheaper products) 3. They will always want the highest #quality (better) This is true for every #business. No matter what we want to deliver our clients always want these things. This was my motto 20 years ago. I found it ironic this was my message way back when. Looking back is always fun. Remembering where you started and where you are. Here’s a tip…. Never compare your start to someone’s middle, never compare your middle to someone’s end. Your journey is yours own it. If I look at what someone has accomplished who is at year 35 and I’m at 25 I may feel in adequate or feel like I’m not where I should be. Don’t compare your self to where others are just focus on your journey. Business is a marathon not a sprint.
