How to prevent accidents caused by crawler crane safety unloading failure? Crawler cranes often use pilot-controlled hydraulic systems, which are comfortable to operate and have good micro-movement. This system uses the pilot control oil circuit to safely unload the load to prevent possible dangerous working conditions such as overloading of the main and auxiliary hoisting winches or excessive lifting of the truss arm. The principle is to use the torque limiter and overload unloading. The combined action of the loading solenoid valve and logic valve or limit switch, and the over-tilt unloading solenoid valve and logic valve ensure that safe unloading can be achieved reliably and prevent accidents when overload or over-tilt misoperation occurs.

Did you know there are 3 types of inspections you should be doing for your rigging gear? Those inspections are: Initial, Frequent, and Periodic. All three are important for safety while using rigging gear. On today’s episode of Safety Saturday, Tim guides us through each of the three types of inspections for rigging gear and their importance for keeping employees safe while using rigging gear. The initial inspection is visual to make sure tags are present and the setup matches. The frequent inspection is hands-on to check for damage and should be conducted prior to each use. The periodic inspection is extensive and should be conducted every 12 months. Additionally, chain slings, which are one of the most common pieces of rigging equipment, require extra attention to detail when being inspected. Until next week, from everyone at W. L. French, stay safe out there! #ConstructionSafety #Rigging #ChainSlings #StayPrepared #SafetySaturday #SafebyChoice #wlfrench #WEMOVEBOSTON

safety tips for winch truck/Crane operations during R/D & R/U : -Never get between a load and the winch truck (crane). - When placing the winch truck in position to tie onto a load, all personnel are to stay clear of the truck path and avoid placing themselves between the winch truck and load. Stay out of pinch points. - At all times avoid working or walking beneath a suspended load. - Lift the load a few inches to observe the balance and reset slings to balance the load. - When signaling winch truck drivers, stay away from the truck but in the driver’s view. Do not stand in line with the ends of the block shafts. - When loads are being lifted, the swamper should stand clear of the load line path and be clear of the direct line from the block shafts. - Keep your hands off a load that is being lifted, lowering or positioned. Use a tag line when necessary to control the load. - Keep clear of overhead power lines; clearance should be at least 10 feet from the winch truck poles or any object protruding or suspended from it. - Hand signals should be discernible and consistent. Only one person should be designated as the signal person to the operator. - Movement of the load should not occur until all personnel have moved out of the path of the load and the signal person is within sight of the driver. - Oilfield winch trucks should not be used for raising or lowering personnel. - No one should ride on the outside of trucks, cranes, or on loads, buckets or hooks suspended from gin poles. #GPC #drillingsafety #dailyactivity

It's a blizzard out there! Be safe when driving and shoveling. Do you have snow collecting around your #SJSmithCo gas installation? When clearing snow and ice in front of your tanks and cylinders, make sure to use a shovel, and not snow removal equipment to prevent any damage. Also, avoid dumping snow or ice in front of the tanks – this can prevent access, and also impact the function of the system. Questions? Give #SJSmithCo a call at 563-324-5237, or go to sjsmith.com. #dryiceblasting #industrialgases #welding #safetysupplies
