Did you know that Annex 9 - Facilitation to the Chicago Convention mandates that persons with disabilities are provided with special assistance where necessary, in a manner that respects the dignity of the individual, and that necessary steps are taken to ensure that airport facilities and services are adapted to their needs? The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) provides a framework for cooperation of all aviation stakeholders to ensure that aviation is accessible to persons with disabilities, through both Annex 9 and the guidelines in ICAO Doc9984 (the Manual on Access to Air Transport by Persons with Disabilities). On this World Autism Awareness Day, we recognize that many disabilities are not visible. It is vital that support is given to all persons with disabilities and aviation remains accessible to everyone. Let's reiterate the importance of Annex 9 SARPs on Accessibility in Aviation on this notable day in this 2024 ICAO Year of Facilitation #FAL2024 and commit to working with all stakeholders now and in the future to assure accessibility of #aviation for all. #autismawareness #facilitation

It's crucial we approach security challenges with both rationality and consideration, while maintaining vigilance. We must remember that individuals facing challenges, whether mobility-related disabilities or mental health issues like autism, may require special understanding and accommodation to facilitate a smooth and compliant experience. Let's try not to judge a book by its cover, as we all are likely to have a close friend, family member or loved one who could easily be misunderstood in a public setting. Empathy and patience can go a long way in ensuring a respectful and inclusive experience for everyone. One world, one love, one people, we move forward in the name of security.

🛫 Mission: Teamwork 🛫 Yesterday, parts of our Facilities, Biomed, EVS, and Food Services teams came together for a snapshot that's worth more than words — it's a nod to the teamwork that powers every successful endeavor. In a fun Halloween 'Top Gun' theme, we donned our best aviator shades and embraced the spirit of camaraderie as a team. Reflecting on "Top Gun," the child in me over 25 years ago only saw the story of the protagonist. Today, I see the bigger picture — success as a collective effort. From the fuel in the planes to the bolts in the carrier, from a well-maintained deck to the meals that kept the crew going, it's the collective ‘behind the scenes' that leads to the success of a mission. Ancillary support might not always be in the limelight on the movie screen when a hero's story is told, but their dedication ensures that our day-to-day operations are successful. A huge shout-out to these teams for their relentless support and commitment.
