Veterinarian | Project Management Professional | Entrepreneur | ~supporting change through action, connection, and trust~
What work from home jobs can I do with a #veterinary degree or an #rvt #rvn qualification? This is THE top ask we get in our communities- over 30,000 people and this is the most frequently asked question. So, here’s the honest answer: SO flipping many roles! But…. I’ll also tell you that a work from home won’t solve all your problems if you don’t answer these questions first! I’m fact, you might end up more miserable. 🐾 what do you like about what you do now? 🐾what’s unsustainable? Why? 🐾what are you curious about? Do you agree? What other advice would you give? I’ll do a separate video about HOW to find these seemingly “needle in haystack” jobs. And please do join us this week for a free workshop with Leann Benedetti DVM, TICC, ACC, CCFP, BSc and I on “Something’s got to change!” See comments for link. #veterinarycareers #vetmed #vettechlife

"Veterinarians are essential health workers." Not only for our animals, but also for human physical and mental health and a healthy living environment. On this special day, Vetwork wants to acknowledge the influence of the veterinarians in all deimensions. We point out the often invisble contribution of veterinarans to our society and celebrate their dedication. The success of veterinarians correlates with the feeling of appreciation and the ability to deal with the (daily) challenges in their practices. But also with the decisions they make on their career path. Vetwork finds it important to find a safe workplace for them, and where they find appreciation and opportunities. With coaching and practical help, we team up with the vets. In this way, we hope to make a sustainable contribution to the sector. Please, share your thoughts on this essential today, on World Veterinary Day 2024. Why do you think that veterinarians are essential health workers? What feeling of appreciation do need and/or do you miss? #worldveterinaryday #worldvetday veterinarians #veterinary #veterinaryprofessional #healthcare #animalhealthcare #onehealth #animalhealth #work #professionalcareer #career #paravet #vetassistant #diergeneeskunde #dierenarts #vitaliteit #carriere #gezondheid #health #Vetwork

Meagan Parks I CARE!!!!! I am so sorry that this profession has left you feeling like your credentialed status is worthless. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I am so committed to this issue that I pay for anyone at my hospital to attend school to become credentialed!! I am a private practice owner and I currently pay for 6 employees out of my own pocket AND there are NO COMMITMENT conditions. The veterinary profession has been built on the backs of hard working support teams who have subsidized pet owner costs and maximized practice owner profits by being severely under compensated. THIS NEEDS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED! No one encouraged knowledgeable, skilled, and experienced ASSISTANTS to get credentialed while also turning a blind eye to title protection. Why? Because it was cheaper to pay them as assistants while relying on them like technicians. To my fellow DVMs - how would we feel if everyone caring for a patient was called a doctor regardless of their education and licensure?! And can we please stop whining about veterinarian wages when - despite wealthy corporations and private equity taking over our industry and improving DVM compensation- our support teams are still starving? It is time to correct DECADES of mistreatment.
This question is for ALL CREDENTIALED VETERINARY TECHNICIANS LISTENING: Why do you keep up with your license? I am earnestly asking. The reason being is: I’m considering mine. Do I keep it? Do I care? Why DON’T I care? Because, without judgement, biases, or pride it doesn’t matter to anyone except that DVM who wants me to have their liability. The other “technicians” don’t have licenses to hold them liable- why would I want this? They are called by the same title as me-why do I want this baggage? No one is fighting for us to get national recognition, so why keep up with the “jones’”? It does not enable me to do anything someone without a license can’t do (legally or not- it doesn’t physically impair me…but even legally it doesn’t stop me 🤣). Because I’ve been in recruiting (boy is that an ugly scene!) I know I will also make as much money, too. They legit don’t matter to anyone (except me- and maybe other RVTs). So, honestly, why? To “prove” you’ve done it? To show everyone you are “better” than them? Is that true? Are you? I’ve accepted the notion that my education is only worth anything to me. I’m the only reason I was doing any of this - I just wanted to help save animals. So, I’m letting my license die with my ego. That’s my story- but what is yours? Why do you care to keep your license? What’s the point? #veterinarytechnicians #education #vettechs #rvt #lvt #registeredveterinarytechnician #cvt #veterinarytechnology #vettechlife #DVM #veterinarian #veterinary #vet #vetlife #veterinaryindustry #navta #scnavta #avma #aavsb #vtne #stateboardsareajoke #provemewrong

In the post-COVID world, fear has become an ever-present companion in making career decisions. Veterinary professionals must recognise the impact of fear on their choices and work to embrace their core values. By doing so, they can navigate uncertainty with confidence and clarity, making decisions that align with their passions, goals, and personal growth. Embracing one's values empowers veterinary professionals to overcome limitations, seize new opportunities, and embark on a fulfilling and purpose-driven career journey. Remember, the voice of fear may be loud, but the voice of your values is your true guide through life's important decisions. #veterinary #veterinarysurgeon #veterinarycareers #veterinaryrecruitment

Read the full response (and other questions) in my North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) Today's Veterinary Business" column here: https://lnkd.in/gjG8Xdcb Q: For the first time in my veterinary career, I’m in a new job and making a generous salary with excellent benefits. The problem is that the non-veterinarian practice manager is a micromanager. She constantly reviews my medical records, questions my SOAPs, and suggests additional diagnostics or treatments. As she scrutinizes my every move, I’m starting to doubt my proficiency as a veterinarian. Unfortunately, my co-workers aren’t supportive. Most have worked here for years and don’t seem interested in getting to know me outside of work. My mental health is declining, just as my income is soaring. Do I stick it out for the money or quit for a lower-paying position? #veterinary #veterinarian #practicemanagement #leadership #business #entrepreneurship #vettech #veterinarytechnician
