It's #veterinaryreceptionist week, so we want to take a moment to recognize these individuals' pivotal role in contributing to the optimal functioning of a veterinary practice! Pictured here is the amazing front desk team at Perry Hall Animal Hospital in Baltimore, MD . They have been a VetBilling partner hospital for 10 years! Perry Hall was one of the “early adopters” of VetBilling because of the alignment of values around #accesstocare . So what does a veterinary receptionist DO? The boring answer is that they answer phones 📞, greet clients, 👋 schedule appointments, 📆 and collect payment for services. 💵 But that falls far short of describing their superhero role! 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️ 🦸 Here's part of the actual job description: VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST, aka: Phone ninja. 🥷 📞 Client greeter. 🤝 Appointment scheduler extraordinaire. 📆 Poop-and-pee-cleaner-upper. 💩 Prescription label sticker-onner. 💊 Conflict resolution specialist. ☮️ ✌️ Foreign language interpreter ("I would like my puppy's distemper vaccine 'with no corona'" ?!? => true story!) 🤣🤣🤣 Financial negotiation guru. 💵 Fine line walker. 🤸♀️ Hurt feelings soother. 🤗 Animal comforter. 🐶 🐱 Practice management software wizard. 🧙♀️ 🧙♂️ 🧙 Text message manager. 🔔 Chaos surfer. 🏄♀️ 🏄♂️ 🏄 Carb-and-caffeine aficionado. 🍕 🍩 🍭 ☕️ 🍫 🍵 Pet-hair-on-everything modeler. 👖 👚 Composure maintainer. 😑 Printer paper refiller. 🖨️ 📑 Email maven. 📧 Inventory tracker. 📈 Versatility champion. 🏆 Now, we ask you, is "veterinary receptionist" even the right job title, or should it be "INDISPENSABLE SUPERHERO"??? 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️ 🦸 Have more stellar skills to add? Drop them in the comments below 👇 #vetbilling #veterinarian #vetclinic #vetteam #clientcare

Keyword Saturday – How about a veterinary niche where empathy, communication and people skills far outweigh the technical competencies? Cherry Tree Gentle Farewells is a family run, compassionate end of life service for pets. When you read the advert it’s clear that, although important, veterinary technical skills are relatively less so than superb interpersonal skills, communication and empathy. This requires a slightly different approach in your CV, so watch the video for some tips about how you might get those skills across – not WHAT you do, but HOW you do what you do. Here’s the advert: https://lnkd.in/e4JxPe_B #vetpassport #vetjobs #veterinarycareers

Understanding the #cat owner persona is the secret to attracting and keeping more cats in our care. It's all about understanding cat owners at their core. I'm proud to serve as an advisor to many industry partners to help them understand who cat owners are. While providing top-notch #veterinary care and stress-free experiences is essential for the cat, it's just one piece of the puzzle. Equally important is connecting with the cat owner persona. Without that bond, ensuring lifelong care for our #feline friends remains challenging for most practices. Here are a few examples of how cat owners are different than #dog owners: ⏺ Cat owners are introverts, and introverts hate the unexpected. For instance, drilling them with many questions about their cat during their first visit. ⏺ Cat owners respond poorly to advertising and are often skeptical, unlike most dog owners. ⏺ Cat owners are more educated and enjoy consuming educational content about cats, whereas dogs tend to skip over education. ⏺ Cat owners believe their cats are in excellent health and self-sufficient but have admitted that if they knew they could prevent problems for their cats, they'd take them to the vet more often. Seeking tips to engage cat owners better? 😻 Check out https://lnkd.in/ebNWirNR for valuable insights! These resources are a tiny part of a more extensive conversation, but they will get you on the right track.

I am disappointed that my respectful question has been ignored on this job posting that was directed at me (twice… a previous post to which I replied was deleted the day before). You can click the reposted ad to see what I wrote and the support it received (if it isn’t deleted). The question was supported by numerous vet professionals (including several of the specialists they are trying to recruit with this ad) even more so than the ad itself. I think it is clear that Daniel, Alessandra, Kimberly, Tara, Stacy, Whitney, Meighan, Laura, Robert, Chris, Bill, Molly, Brad, Daniel, Krystina, Kathy, Larraine, Hannah, Oren, and Paul all thought it was a reasonable question to which they wanted an answer as well. Ann, I know that you don’t make the policy so please don’t think I’m taking it out on you. This goes for all veterinary recruiters that are reading this and with whom I’ve previously interacted; I am not taking it out on you and I do not think you are bad people. I think your companies are putting you in an awkward position of hiding valuable information from your applicants. The way that veterinary practices advertise these jobs, discuss the benefits, and then ignore simple questions like this is shameful. This means the companies KNOW that noncompetes are unethical. Why else would they wait until months into the conversation to throw in a noncompete? It is manipulative and unfair without even getting into the fact that noncompetes themselves are unethical, impact mental health, cause burnout, and result in pet morbidity/mortality. It is still not too late for BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital and others to do the right thing. I will be the first to publicly celebrate and advertise for any hospital or corporation who eliminates noncompetes. Clearly this isn’t just a BluePearl thing. The vast majority of specialty vet employers do this exact same thing. It’s reprehensible. We are exhausted. We will not sign your contracts and your open positions will remain open. #eliminatenoncompetes #endtheveterinarynoncompete #veterinarymedicine #vetmed
📣 BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital has immediate openings for BOARD-CERTIFIED or RESIDENCY-TRAINED Internists at several of our locations across the country! 🐾 I'd love the opportunity to tell you more about these amazing opportunities including: * Sign-on bonus * Moving allowance * Flexible work schedule * A robust benefit package including an annual company store allowance, pet discounts and discounts on Mars products! * Work-life balance ✨ And most importantly, the opportunity to join a team of supportive professionals with one common goal: to reshape the world of veterinary medicine! The possibilities are truly endless, and it all begins with an email to me at: ann.dabney@bluepearlvet.com 📧 #veterinaryjobs #beingbluepearl #hiring #careers #veterinarycareers #veterinaryinternalmedicine #vetmed
