The #Euro2024 second round of the Group Stage started yesterday with more entertaining matches ⚽ I looked a bit at the fun stats of the first round and this is what I found: 👉 1-0 and 2-1 were the most common results out of the 12 matches. They both came out 3 times each 👉 2.8 is the average number of goals so far, so at this rate we could be seeing around 145 goals. However, we know that during the elimination stage, the number of goals do drop down. 👉 The naughtiest team was Austria with 5 yellow cards 👉 Worst defence goes to Scotland with 5 goals conceded 👉 34 goals were scored in total with 31 different players scoring + 3 own goals Can you name more fun stats? 🤔 #Euro #Euros #Euro24 #iGaming #iGamingMalta

While watching a EURO2024 football match, heard an interesting perspective on how to help reduce football hooliganism/violence: Make the goals bigger to have more goals scored. Football is a sport with one of the lowest, if not the lowest, number of goals/points scored. Waiting for a goal to be scored creates tension/anxiety build up. When a goal is scored that tension is released. Would be interesting to look at historical data to compare the incidence of violence in games with high number of goals scored vs games with no/few goals. 😀
