Building products that create impact, healing and delight • Here to help on UX, research and design leadership
Via Caroline Mrozla-Toscano, PhD who does an excellent job sharing information about workplace culture. I am curious about this and if or how this changes depending on the location (country), seniority of people involved, sector, internal vs. external pressures and of course the most important question - how we can improve the places that have normalized toxicity as business as usual. It will be interesting to see the repercussions of this case.

The major cultural review underway at EY has found that staff have a “…low level of trust in resolution mechanisms at EY”, risking significant underreporting of inappropriate workplace behaviours. 40% of respondents indicated they were considering quitting over low culture and long hours. Often workplace culture reviews are instigated after a significant period of unrest, high staff turnover, increased stress leave and increased investigations or in many cases, a serious workplace incident. However, they can also be used as an early intervention tool to better understand how your workplace is currently operating in terms of the key drivers of positive workplace culture. Passionate advocate for cultivating positive workplace cultures and combating workplace bullying, especially when it emanates from management or those closely tied to leadership roles. Having weathered challenging environments, I am resolute in my commitment to shedding light on the importance of fostering inclusive and respectful workplaces. In my professional journey, I've observed instances where individuals, sometimes assuming management-like roles without the performance to match, perpetuate a corrosive atmosphere. It's disheartening to witness the impact of unchecked power dynamics on the well-being of individuals, particularly newcomers. My personal experiences have ignited a deep-seated dedication to instigating change. I am on a mission to contribute to work environments that champion dignity, collaboration, and professional advancement. No newcomer should endure the distress of workplace bullying, and I am determined to be a catalyst for positive change. Let's connect and collaborate to build workplaces where every individual, irrespective of their tenure, can flourish and contribute to a culture of collective success. #WorkplaceAdvocate #InclusiveLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment

What is the Workplace Civility❔ Civility pertains to the behaviour of people in any environment. They should be courteous, treat others with respect and follow the moral rules of the society. People should be able to trust each other and show positive behaviour. 📜Importance of Workplace Civility 1-Mutual Respect Workplace diversity fosters mutual respect amongst the team members. Different cultures and age groups bring different dynamics to the table and employees gain respect for each other. 2-Productivity Workplace civility has a direct impact on the productivity of the company. If the employees witness bad behaviour like badgering, bullying or harassment, they tend to become stressed and lose their time of work, directly affecting the company. 3-Commitment When workers experience incivility at work, they tend to become less committed to their organisations. This leads to attrition. Companies have to let go of their good employees and re-hiring costs too much money and resources. 4-Ethics When workers experience civil behaviour on the part of their managers, they naturally treat each other well. Behaviour standards are set by great leadership examples. 5-Quality of Life When workers experience a better quality of life, both at home and in the office, it makes them more relaxed and gets a better outcome. The organisations have to make sure that they provide them with the same. It helps them maintain effective customer relations. 📜How to Maintain Workplace Civility? 1-Conflict Resolution 2-Company Policies 3-Training 4-Providing Support and Accountability 5-Lead by example 📜Conclusion Workplace civility is not achieved overnight. The management has to work hard, formulate policies and execute them well. The management is the leader of the organisations and employees look up to them. Thus, they should lead by example When employees face uncivil behaviour at the workplace, they tend to get detached from their organisation. That's when attrition takes place. #soft #skills #improve #your #career

As ITV introduces strict new rules requiring all employees to declare any relationships and close friendships with coworkers, following Phillip Schofield’s resignation earlier this year over a workplace relationship, we're examining how employers can establish clear policies and procedures around relationships in the workplace, whilst respecting employees’ right to a private life. When speaking to HR Grapevine about ITV's new approach to workplace relationships and what other employers should do if they wish to introduce a similar policy, Greg Guilford, Director of HR Consulting at WorkNest said “Employers can ask employees to disclose workplace relationships, especially if the relationship is between a manager and a direct report. It’s important that you have all the appropriate policies in place, including a code of conduct, grievance procedure and rules on harassment. It is a sensible approach for employers to impose rules around personal relationships at work, with the aim of ensuring that individual members of staff are not open to allegations of impropriety, bias, abuse of authority or conflict of interest.” The CIPD recently issued the below factsheet covering the key steps to avoiding the potential risks of romantic relationships between employees, including policies and procedures on workplace conduct, HR responsibilites and the UK legal position on the matter. Have you implemented a similar policy to ITV within your organisation? #HR #HumanResources #WorkplaceRelationships #EmploymentNews https://lnkd.in/eCyMKt3e
