Last fall, HGO contributed to the Louder Than Silence 4th Annual Birthday Party Silent Auction by donating a collaborative decluttering and organizing session. Louder Than Silence is a local organization, whose mission is providing survivors of sexual violence with the community and resources they need to rebuild their lives. We are so thankful and honored to have been a part of their cause! This couldn’t have gone to a more deserving couple! Their #1 goal was to declutter and refresh their primary closet. Our #1 goal was to give this young family a sense of relief and more serenity in their home. We just had to take a few more steps before we could accomplish this! Together, we decluttered: 💫 His/hers clothing and accessory items, linens, etc., from their closet 💫 Another linen closet to make room for linens 💫 A coat and storage closet to make room for other items 💫 An office closet to make room for holiday items The result: 4 edited + reorganized closets, > 8 bags of donation items + 2 full trash bags. Their items are now more easily accessible and have a proper home in each closet. Share the Warmth: Help Keep Kids Cozy this Winter As the chill of winter approaches, it's essential to remember that not everyone has the means to stay warm during the cold months. Many families, especially children, are left shivering without proper winter attire. But together, we can make a difference! It's heartbreaking to think of kids facing the biting cold without adequate clothing to keep them warm. That's why we urge you to join us in a collective effort to spread warmth and love in our community. If you have a coat, be it gently used or new, consider donating it. Your generosity can make a world of difference in a child's life. A simple act of kindness can go a long way. By donating a coat, you're not just providing physical warmth; you're also giving the gift of hope and comfort. In the face of adversity, a warm coat can be a symbol of care and solidarity, showing these children that they are not alone. Let's come together as a community and share the warmth. Your small contribution can make a big impact. Reach out to your local shelters, schools, or community organizations to find out how you can donate and help keep these kids cozy this winter. Spread the word, and let's ensure that no child has to face the cold without the warmth they deserve. How can a college student focus on learning if they’re worried about where their next meal will come from? This new resource on campus is here to help!
Yesterday was an exciting day for Clarkson College! During our Community Meeting with faculty and staff, Ms. Rachel Holm and Dr. Kristen Villarreal cut the ribbon on our new Food and Clothing Pantry. The Clarkson College Cupboard & Closet is just one way we demonstrate our commitment to supporting our students' well-being and fostering a thriving community. #ClarksonCollegeCares For any questions or information on how to donate, contact holmrachel@clarksoncollege.edu.

Winter is coming! And its New England so "Winter" could literally mean anything. If you are facing financial insecurity, or without a house/home, this season is particularly harrowing. During this season I will be working to connect our Generators to opportunities with Somerville Homeless Coalition to donate their time to some community service, and later this month, to donate warm winter clothing and high-need items. Being a good neighbor is checking to make sure their plates are full, and offering a warm coat before they need to ask. We're here to do both! Generate: Time - to acts of service Generate: Service - towards our neighbors and communities Generate: Warmth - to keep our community safe from the turbulent winter season. #generatetime #generateservice #generatewarmth #communityoutreach

Decluttering your home should not be a one-person job. It's time we get the kids involved in downsizing some extra stuffies and making it fun to keep a clean and organized space. We have tons of tips on making tidying up easy for kids. Part of our mission is to know no waste and donate unwanted or unneeded items to local non-profits, ensuring all items go to a deserving home. Did you know that most canine police units accept donations for their brave dogs who have experienced a traumatic event? Pro tip: make a monthly or annual trip to your local police station and let the kids see that their stuffed animals are going to dogs who are scared and need a new buddy. This week on the blog, we talk about how you can get your kids involved with staying organized and encouraging them to let go of unneeded toys in a fun and exciting donation process. https://lnkd.in/eVhCnHYW

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” -Martin Luther King Jr. #MLKDay The best way to celebrate the legacy of #MLK is to take action and make a difference. 👇 💜🤝Volunteer - whether at an animal shelter, a food kitchen for the homeless, or for one of your local nonprofits, volunteering makes a difference in your community. 💜🤝 Donations- making any type of donation like money, clothes, food, blankets, supplies, or even donating your time is a good way to give back to your community. 💜🤝 Service Projects- can look like cleaning a park, tutoring youth, planting trees, helping others register to vote, or locating books to give to local libraries or schools.
