I'm often asked about the risks of diving with sharks. Globally, there are under 100 shark incidents yearly, yet human activities claim the lives of around 20 million sharks each year. This staggering difference highlights a critical issue. While the fear of sharks is often sensationalized, the reality is that sharks face a far greater threat from us than we do from them. The decline in shark populations due to overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change is alarming and poses a significant risk to ocean ecosystems. This year, I commit to diving responsibly and being a voice for marine life. The true hazard is ignorance and inaction.
