Someone once said to me “It is so nice to see your LinkedIn posts because everyone else is out there saying ‘I’m so humbled to be receiving this award’ or ‘I’m so honored to speak at this event’ and you’re posting real things that are helpful and pertinent to people in our industry.” Well, I’m sorry to this fan of my ‘real life’ LinkedIn content because today I’m going to say…I AM SO D*MN PROUD.  Our team made Forbes Top Executive Recruitment Firms for the second year in a row. Starting Cardea Group in 2009 during a financial crisis was a gamble but I believed in what it could be and how it could stand out in its approach to executive recruitment. We weathered the financial crisis, a 3 year non-compete battle, a global pandemic, and the exit of partners. I have poured my heart and energy into this business: the relationships, the searches, the processes but more than anything…the PEOPLE.  All because I love what we are here for, I love what I do, and I believe in it. Especially over the past four years, I have been tirelessly trying to stay ahead of the curve in partnering with the most prestigious firms, finding and procuring the elusive and best talent, and implementing innovative ways to make the search process smoother, faster, more transparent, and an elevated experience for all parties. Thank you to all who recognized our team, securing us a spot on the Forbes Top Executive Recruitment Firms list. We broke into the top 100 among firms 5,000 times (!) our size across the nation. In words that read like nails on a chalkboard to my aforementioned (former) fan, I’m honored, humbled AND STOKED! that our small, incredible team has been recognized on this list of upstanding firms. I met the global CEO of PageGroup Nicholas Kirk this week. Nick came to the NYC office and shared some perspective on the current state of the job market and how to think about it as a recruiter. Here are my 3 key takeaways from his talk: 1.) The job market is cyclical, and acts as a lagging indicator to the economy. 2.) Hiring Manager's standards increase when economic outlook is uncertain. 3.) The hiring landscape has become increasingly hyper-specialized. Gratitude After an impressive 44 years in the game that’s the all-encompassing word to wrap how Greg Savage feels about his Recruitment journey. Yesterday some of us 'Rarekinders' had the incredible opportunity to soak up some of the hard learnings and moments of truth Greg has had throughout his recruitment journey. I have to say, even though by comparison my own journey is only a blimp on something like a 44 year journey, gratitude resonates. We hit highs and lows in this industry daily and setbacks and part and parcel with the gig. As Greg said, there are no silver medals in recruitment only ever gold. But its that win, win, win sum of candidate win + client win = our win which is our golden medal moment that fuels our trajectory and injects gratitude. Look, I get saying that there were too many key take aways to pick just one is cliché, but can I share a fun fact with you all? Last year our industry generated a total of $25 Billion US – which was more than law and accounting combined. A stat I’m back pocketing the next shrug that’s shouldered towards this industry and its place. Luckily for all of us his wisdom has been penned into x2 recruiter bibles that at some point we should all pick up, read, take in, scribble through, finish and then pick up again.
