Helping businesses to provide life changing family forming and fertility benefits to employees- giving everyone the same chance to become a parent.
It's been really interesting to see content about egg freezing as a staff benefit covered in the Financial Times recently, and have a look at discussions on their recent instagram post about it. A comment I saw time and time again was people asking why the onus is on women, rather than offering sperm freezing or other fertility treatments. As infertility impacts all genders, and family forming benefits can support people in LGBTQ+ couples and couples that may not even include women- it's really important to us at apryl that our fertility benefits package is for everyone and can include a wide scope of treatments, including, but not limited to, egg freezing. We believe that everyone should have the same chance to become a parent – no matter their age, gender, sexual orientation, relationship status or financial means. Get in touch today for a no- strings chat about how fertility benefits can help your company to become more inclusive and attract and retain the best talent! #eggfreezing #hr #employeebenefits #edi #talent

Did you know? According to the World Health Organization, approximately 1 in 6 individuals globally are affected by infertility. And that's not all – many LGBTQ+ couples and solo parents also rely on assisted reproductive treatments to fulfill their dreams of parenthood. Established in 1989, National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) serves as a vital platform to raise awareness among legislators and the public about the widespread impact of infertility. It's time to unite and demand the attention this issue deserves. So, what can you do? Let's start by spreading awareness, advocating for access to fertility treatments, and offering support to those navigating this journey. Together, we can make a difference. #NIAW #InfertilityAwareness #SupportParenthood #infertilityawarenessweek

This week is #TransAwarenessWeek 🏳️⚧️ When it comes to fertility access, we know that LGBTQ+ people experience significant barriers. However, when it comes to trans healthcare, it is largely under-researched and under-funded. Dr Catherine Hill, head of policy & public affairs at Fertility Network UK, said "Although fertility may not be the first thing on your mind now, it’s smart to consider your options for storing eggs, sperm or embryos, so the potential for parenthood exists in the future. Since 1 July 2022, it’s possible to freeze gametes or embryos for up to 55 years, with the provision that you renew storage consent every 10 years. "A first step if you’re thinking about this is to speak to your GP about what may be available in your area; you can also check out the info on our website and via our online groups. You are not alone." If you are an LGBTQ+ person looking for support through fertility options and treatment, please consider joining our closed LGBTQ+ support groups ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e94gRC-5 We also have a webinar available on our YouTube channel around all you may need to know about trans fertility preservation ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/exwWevdA Everyone deserves the chance to start a family, no matter their sexuality or gender identity 🏳️🌈 If you need support, we are here for you 🤍 #fertility #fertilityjourney #fertilitysupport #fertilityawareness #fertilitytreatment #fertilitychallenges #ivf #ivfjourney #ivfsupport #fertilitygroups #infertility #transparents #transrights #transawarenessweek2023 #infertilitysupport #fertilityadvice #ttc #ttccommunity #ttcjourney #LGBTMummies #SameSexParents #LGBTFamily #queerparenting #Pride #Lovemakesafamily

IVF Experience Consultant - Collaborating with clinics and organisations to develop bespoke patient experience strategies for enhanced support. Author of the IVF Positivity Planner and Menopause Positivity Planner
4 ways to support same-sex couples in your fertility clinic? Read on… When same-sex couples undergo treatment, they’re coming under different circumstances to many other patients. Often, this is their only route to a family, with added complications like third-party assistance required, and added stressors from legal, social, cost and emotional aspects. So how can your clinic provide an exceptional, empathetic and compassionate experience to same-sex and LGBTQ+ patients too? Here are 4 tips taken from my Nurse Training Guidance: - Same-sex couples often say that the support and information available to them in-clinic is tailored to heterosexual couples and not relevant to them - providing tailored information helps them feel important and validated too. - Allow time for questions so they can get answers to their specific situation. - Source tailored support resources - relevant support groups, booklets and blogs are a good starting point. - Have sensitivity to different family set-ups throughout your clinic, addressing each one with equal compassion and understanding. If you’d like to learn more about my Nurse Training, which can be personalised to the needs of your clinic, drop me a DM today. #ivfclinic #fertilityclinic #patientexperience #PatientEmpathy #Pride2024

Natalie has written a comment piece in Bionews about the UK Government’s plans to update the fertility screening laws, which will bring positive impact on some LGBT+ intended parents, such as female same-sex couples and HIV-positive individuals seeking to conceive. These changes aim to reduce barriers and improve equity for these groups. However, there are still several challenges to be addressed to ensure fair access to fertility treatment for all LGBT+ parents, including issues related to NHS funding and transgender fertility patients. While the government’s proposed reforms are a step in the right direction, there is more work to be done to achieve true equity for LGBT+ parents. The demand for fertility and family building benefits continues to grow, but employers still need to read the fine print when it comes to adding a benefit. In fact, according to a recent Progyny LGBTQ+ Fertility and Family Building survey, 68% of respondents with coverage for fertility treatment are unable to access the benefits without pre-certification or a medical diagnosis of infertility. Dr. Janet Choi, Chief Medical Officer, and Cynthia McEwen, VP of People and Head of DEI, detail how exclusive benefit structures can harm underserved populations, how employers can ensure their health benefits are inclusive, and the impact it’ll have on their workforce.
