I had an eye-opening experience with a 5* hotel manager. (Don’t be a liar like him!) Last summer, I decided I wanted to work. Since I’m a tourism management student and have a tourism tech diploma, I sent my CV to a few hotels applying for a receptionist role. 🛎 Later, I received an email inviting me for a job interview. The interview went well, then he invited me for a trial day. The day of the trial went smoothly. I handled guests, check-ins and outs, reservations, and all the receptionist stuff. The manager said everything went fine, that I fit in well, and told me that he’ll contact me when can I start. I was EXCIIITEEEDDD! 😍 A day passed, two days, five days, a week went by... and still nothing. I texted him to ask when I could start, but he ghosted me. 👻 I thought maybe they didn't get my message, so I called him 3 times, but still got no answer. 📵 I was so curious what's going on, I made a little trick. I called him from my friend's number, he picked up, realized I phoned him and said that he was in a meeting and would call back ASAP. Well, that was a lie! 😂 At this point I got soo f* pissed and didn't pursue it further. He hasn't contacted me since. It's very unprofessional and unreliable, it reflects poorly on the manager and the 5* hotel too! 📚 Lesson learned: ↳ Never beg anyone → If you're truly needed as a professional, you won't need to chase after the managers. 💡 Tip for employers: ↳ Every feedback matters → It's okay to say no! You're doing a favor by answering, and it saves people from hoping you'll call. I hope this story was instructive, and that you won't make the same mistake both of us made.
