If you want a vibrant Bioscience community Evergreen Bioscience Innovation Cluster has a very good blueprint. Key recommendations from their SWOT study and analysis include: 💸 🤗 1. Pursue outside capital and champions. 🏢 2. Focus on both bottom-up (homegrown startups) and top-down (attracting established life science company expansion) strategies for industry growth in the Inland Northwest. 🛠 🔬 3. Increase funding, resources, and support for the startup life science community. ⏲ 4. Facilitate speed to market for inbound life science companies. 🏭 5. Lean into manufacturing capability, focusing on medical devices, biologics, pharma production, etc. 🔁 6. Lean into adjacent industries. 🎯 7. Focus on strategic advantages – cost, logistics, and proximity to Seattle. 💪🏽 8. Determine competitive strengths within the life science industry where Spokane has a strategic advantage. 🏆 9. Relentlessly promote the region’s unique strengths. These are the things that help life science companies big or small be successful. And I heard that for every 1 job in Life Science there are 3 additional jobs created. Way to go these excellent 5 ecosystem development groups for commissioning this study and their champion networks who will help them execute.

PhD, P.E., Traffic Signal Control and Signal Timing Optimization Expert; Inventor and Developer of the WaySync (formerly TranSync) Signal Timing Tool - World's First Mobile Application for Signal Timing
A practical paper on #signaltiming #performanceevaluation by Ericka, one of my PhD students. The important takeaway: 1. Floating car travel time runs need to be randomly cover different portion of the green phase; 2. Number of trajectories should not be less than 5, best to have at least 10 to be reliable. #signalcoordination

MSc, Engineering Acoustics @ DTU (TU Denmark) | Audio Student Help @ Jabra | Ex-Sony (Embedded Firmware for True Wireless earbuds)
! ELAC Americas Inc. DBR62 ! Here is a great budget speaker from #ELAC, the #DBR62, with a 6-1/2" woofer and 1" tweeter (with waveguide). In this video, Erin reviews the speaker and shares why it is an impressive product for the price. [DSCLMR: This post is purely intended for EDUCATIONAL purposes. This is NOT a product promotion.] Key takeaways: 1. Can be placed closer to the wall - Due to the ports being in the front. 2. Tweeter positioned very close to the woofer - Better cohesion b/w drivers - This helps the speaker to behave like a point source, when listened to, from a distance. 3. Very good overall On-axis linearity = +/- 2.4 dB compared to the mean SPL. 4. For the most part, the IMPEDANCE stays > 5 Ohm. - However, around 100-200 Hz, the EPDR could be about 2.5 Ohm. - A higher current draw from the amp as a result. - Hence, a powerful dedicated amplifier (4-ohm capable) is recommended (preferably NOT an AVR). - This is also justified due to the overall "lower sensitivity" rating of the speaker. 5. There is a slight DIP in the on-axis response around 4kHz - Due to BAFFLE DIFFRACTION. - Owing to a rectangular baffle. 6. CEA2034 a. Early Reflections and Power DI track the On-axis & Listening window(+/-30 deg off-axis) for the most part. - Except for a dip in 1~2 kHz region. - In the off-axis, the response goes up again in 4~5 kHz region. - Due to a crossover mismatch - Due to this relative boost in 4~5k compared to a recess in 1~2k, the speaker might sound slightly SIBILANT depending on the content being listened to. b. Good Directivity overall - Slight variation in the X-over region - a DIP later due to BAFFLE DIFFRACTION c. Est. In-room response - For Un-treated rooms - 20~30deg Toe-out seems to work best due to the smoother in-room off-axis response d. Great Directivity - Horizontal -> +/-70 deg (Mid-range) - Vertical -> +/-10deg sweetspot (+/-20deg also good) - Good for home theatre use with multiple row seating e. Harmonic Distortion - Well below 3% threshold - Slightly higher below 50Hz f. Multi-tone Distortion - Below 3% thres. - Slightly >3% in the mid-range Cutting off LF with a filter reduces overall Distortion. Hence, a Sub-Woofer is RECOMMENDED to handle the LF. g. Linearity - Very Linear except at LF (Hence a SUB WOOFER is recommended) - Some variation around 700Hz and 1~1.5kHz, possibly due to - Enclosure Resonance, or - Edge termination of Cone to Surround Watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/eMPekFT5 #acoustics #hifiaudio #hifi #highend #hifi #audio #highendaudio Klippel GmbH #nearfieldscanner #nfs #audiophile #cinephile #music
