I wish it were possible To keep my team happy all the time. Have a harmonious working environment Every moment of every day. But that's just not reality. No matter how hard I try. We have a job to do. Things need to get done. But just because I can't spend all my time Making sure my team is 100% happy. 100% of the time. That doesn't mean it's not important To check in with them And lead with empathy. Because just like I don't want to swing too far into people pleasing I also don't want to be so results-driven that I forget to care for my team. For me, it comes down to kindness. Treating my team with respect. Because the more they know I care about them, The easier it will be for us to work as a team. And achieve what we're here to do.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀? I shared my thoughts here: https://lnkd.in/gh7bYVE2, but would also like to add more and share them with you all. I've personally seen how celebrating success boosts team morale and keeps everyone motivated. From my experience, recognizing achievements creates a more positive and enjoyable workplace. Celebrations bring the team closer, promoting a strong sense of belonging, which is incredibly valuable. I've also noticed that acknowledging achievements often sparks fresh ideas and encourages teamwork. Celebrating accomplishments is a powerful driver that propels us towards excellence as a team. In your experience, what's the most memorable way you've seen team achievements celebrated, and how did it impact your team's dynamics and performance?

At a recent year end festive team dinner, I was reminded that the best teams are diverse teams. Not just in terms of gender and race and culture (although that certainly helps) but also in terms of diversity of ideas, thought and work styles. In this way the team will be able to better assess situations from various angles and have more diverse ideas to tackle any issues. Also the ability to assess potential impacts of various proposed solutions increases exponentially with the increased diversity of teams. If you recall recent gaffes by corporates such as tone deaf marketing campaigns, often the situation arises due to group think where the entire team thinks in a same way and no one is able to bring in a different perspective and flag out risks. My view was shaped by my experience in one of my earliest effective teams in PA consulting. We were a diverse team of nationalities with our own skill sets. Our team lead was a soft spoken very intelligent Hong Konger who was the ideas man. We had a tough sergeant from Ghana/London who kept us in line. 2 Uber tech experts from France and the UK who could Code anyone under the table. A sweet functional specs designer from Côte d’Ivoire. And our secret weapon, a soft spoken lady from Australia who could calm the raging seas with her voice. we looked and sounded nothing like each other but we made for a great team. You all know who you are if you’re reading this 😊 Across my career, I have seen the same effect of the whole being greater than the sum of its individual parts in a diverse team. Whenever this diverse team has had a common purpose, it’s allowed us to achieve great things. Whether it was at OSK Research and winning the best small cap team and most independent team or at Etiqa investment and becoming a desired place of work for the industry and still continuing into my current teams. A diverse team and a common purpose is a winning strategy. Besides having a common purpose, there is an even better way to build an effective team from diverse individuals. But that’s a story for another day 😊

The club will always be more important than the team… Hear me out. Let me give you some examples: - Ryan Reynolds & Wrexham - Gareth Southgate & England They have one key thing in common. Their commitment to a CLUB mentality. They’re just two examples of when managers not only made a team but transformed a CLUB. How? Because they identified the following: 1) That the club has longevity compared to a team 2) Opportunities to build a fundamental foundation The fact is, they made the entirety of the badge a priority, not just the first team. That’s how you create a great club, and the best team(s).

Research shows that when news of success is spread across an organization, there is an increase in feelings of appreciation by 57%. This is why your company's achievements, and your employees achievements are worth celebrating. In August I will hit my 1 - Year at O.C. Tanner, and I have already been asked by my Leader & Team Members how I want to be celebrated - WOW. Talk about feeling appreciated. Knowing that my milestone at O.C. Tanner, and accomplishments thus far are important but worth mentioning instills feelings of gratitude, intention and kindness BUT it makes me want to continue to do great work, and do it here at O.C. Tanner. Employees at your organization I expect would have that same reaction when someone takes time out of their day to say "Well Done", "Good Job" or "Congratulations". Celebrating team anniversaries and milestones helps your employees unite, and reinforces how much those efforts contribute to your company's success. Help unite your team by celebrating company milestones and anniversaries with our creative appreciative ideas listed below. 👇 https://bit.ly/46t5Yjx
