Ethical communicator who has an unusual attraction to crises, disasters and systems-based communicating.
Our best work happens when we aren't seen. At least I've always felt that way about public relations. In addition, a small change can have a big impact. One of my first strategy changes in supporting Columbia-Shuswap Regional District's Emergency Operations as they face the terrible impact of wildfire, resulted in a spot on The National last night. More importantly, that strategy also reduced the tension being felt by emergency responders. https://lnkd.in/gWwwZ5DV #Wildfires #CrisisComms #CrisisCommunications #BCWildfires #PublicRelations #CPRSProud #OneTeam

My husband and I share a love of sports. I love football and baseball, but we watch a number of things together- hockey, soccer, even competitive corn hole. The thing I enjoy most about sports are the moments of grit and determination that sway a game, and how mental strength plays such a role in the outcomes for a team. Last night we got to talking about these moments, and the story of David Ayers, a 42-year-old “emergency goalie” and Zamboni driver came up. If you’re familiar with hockey, you know there is a goalie and a back up goalie. If both get injured, you can list an emergency goalie who isn’t on the official team, and is not a professional hockey player. In a game between the Hurricanes and the Maple Leafs, injury placed David in the spotlight as he was called upon to step onto the ice as the Hurricanes' goaltender. Despite limited experience, he fearlessly embraced the opportunity, showcasing his unwavering determination, skill, and composure. You can see in the video below how it went. After a rough first couple shots, David went on to block 8 straight shots on goal. David's remarkable performance, making stunning saves and leading the Hurricanes to victory exemplifies the power of resilience and a never-give-up attitude. His story serves as a powerful reminder that it's never too late to chase our dreams and make an impact, no matter the circumstances or obstacles that lie in our path. Beyond the realm of hockey, this is why David Ayers' journey resonates deeply with all of us. It teaches us the importance of embracing unexpected challenges, pushing beyond our comfort zones, and finding strength within ourselves when faced with adversity. His story is a testament to the incredible things we can achieve when we believe in our abilities and rise to the occasion. Let us all take inspiration from David's remarkable journey and strive to channel our own inner strength, resilience, and determination in every aspect of our lives. Together, we can overcome any challenge that comes our way and achieve greatness. #Inspiration #Resilience #NeverGiveUp #EmbracingChallenges #RiseToTheOccasion

Good sportsmanship should still be taught and used.

I'm about to resurrect your faith in humanity. If you're going to watch ANY video today... let it be this. A young Oklahoma little leaguer was accidentally hit in the head by a ball.... and the pitcher was devastated. So the kid who was hit walked out to the pitcher’s mound to let the pitcher know that he’s going to be okay. Now THAT is sportsmanship. REPOST and make these kids famous. #thinblueline #lawenforcement
