Yes, you sure can! ✅ However, it’s worth remembering that most gifts in Wills aren’t realised for many years. If you include a gift for our general purposes, it means we can fund the most significant project at the time, to make the greatest impact in our fight to help save Australians from heart disease 🙌 If you have a specific purpose in mind, we recommend discussing this with us before finalising your Will, to ensure that your wishes can be carried out ❤️ Interested in leaving a gift in Will to the Heart Foundation? “What are all of these zebra and herd references for in your posts?” 🦓 Answer: The zebra has become the symbol of rare diseases. This is based on a quote from Dr. Theodore Woodward: “When you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras.” This metaphor is to teach doctors to expect less common conditions to avoid misdiagnosing patients with a rare disease. . . Although you learn to expect a horse, sometimes you DO get a zebra and each zebra has their own stripes making it unique. . . There are more than 7,000 rare diseases, each with their own characteristics, presentations, symptoms, and causes. Despite the differences there are also many commonalities that unite the rare disease community, which encompasses 25-30 million Americans. That’s a lot of zebras and there is so much work to be done! Taking a moment today to spotlight a cause that's dear to my heart: Finding a cure (or at least, an effective treatment) for ALS. It's personal to me because this cruel neurologic disease took my mother-in-law years ago and today I learned of a new diagnosis in a friend of a friend. You can make a difference by donating to one of the many organizations listed on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's ALS Dashboard. Patients can, too, by joining the National ALS Registry. #amyotrophiclateralsclerosis #ALSRegistry https://lnkd.in/exYwvZ94
