Absolutely, Engineer Joshua. It's easy to conflate the two concepts at times. The key distinction lies in their processing units. Concurrency involves executing multiple tasks concurrently within a single processing unit. In contrast, parallelism involves executing multiple tasks concurrently, but across multiple processing units.

Dear backend software engineer, Concurrency is not parallelism. 😏 🙄

Did you join your company to write beautiful software or to become a politician? You studied Computer Science, not PPE, so you’d like to think not. Things as a front office technologist started well. Greenfield projects galore, varied work, a toy store of infrastructure at your disposal. Working for a bank does give you a lot of focus on quality, risk management, and over time, writing maintainable code. These are some of the issues plaguing the tech industry as a whole, so it’s great exposure this early in your career. However, to progress, you need to do a bit more than code. There are limited spaces for promotion, and you don’t want to get left behind. In a world of Roses, don’t be a Jack. You pray the Executive Director has backed your corner and fought for you over the year. You’ve done what you can, but it’s up to someone else now. We can only wish your peers haven’t shafted you. There are only a few limited seats after all. It’s a daunting prospect leaving any job. But leaving the comfort of a bank that you proudly fought hard to join, facing rejection after rejection, is even harder. The proprietary trading firm we have partnered with has a dev team who were in the same boat as you. They took the leap from banks to focus solely on writing elegant code without the burden of politics and red tape. As a Software Engineer (Java Backend), you will gain more exposure to the whole trade lifecycle, from low latency connectivity up to designing UIs. You’ve got a much better chance of working full stack rather than just on a very small part of the machine. 💼Software Engineer, Java 🧠2+ years’ experience 📈Prop Trading 📋3-stage interview process 💷Up to £90k base + bonus 📍London The downside? You might not be home in time for Pointless, but a hedge fund-style bonus doesn’t come easy.

I am looking for a "savvy programmer", I'm willing to pay well for work well done. I would like to "get" what I pay for and at the very least receive a solid try for what i've hired the individual for. My generation works, we are fine with working. I have yet to find A computer programming specialist, software developer, block chain and crypto specialist that will actually move on what I would like to create and get "paid" for it. Starting high five figures with a six figure increase in the pay schedule apparently isn't a good place to start for a 25 year old M.I.T graduate that can barely drive a car and thinks world war II was in the 1800's???? The world is being over run by people who should be put to sleep, for the greater good of coarse. I have high TECH related businesses attempting to start, with zero interest in programming that will actually take a GOOD programming specialist to start and assemble a team of necessary. ground floor in a billion dollar industry with millions in the budget? what the f@ck? go figure, I mean go protest. If you know what you're doing and would like a full time job with explosive potential in Crypto development and support, and Solar Farming and green energy production on a massive scale. please inquire. Please, do not dazzle me with your resume. The most educated have been the most stupid thus far. A great school with a great education is fine, but for the love of god retain "leave having learned something". Talk to me like you have an independent soul and can think for yourself. talk to me like you haven't bought into the fake and phony digtal reality of hollow hero's, the pretend land of SM, where everybody's a star(PSYCH!) Your answers to my questions will tell me if you meet the qualifications or not. thank you

Senior Site Reliability Engineer Specializing in Backend & Security | Docker Captain 🐳 | Mentoring Aspiring Engineers
I have come across developers, especially those in their early careers, who feel discouraged, and they say things like, "I want to implement this awesome tech at work, but my tech lead is pushing back or doesn't think it's needed." For instance, someone might want to introduce a complex and highly sophisticated password flow to make it very hard for adversaries to crack. However, it's important to understand that some technical decisions are the result of business agreements, not the other way around. If your business is fine with stateless JWTs with reasonable expiry times, there is no need to implement stateful tokens for revocation. This is what we call "acceptable risks." The company acknowledges these risks and is willing to maintain the current approach. It is not personal, just purely business decision. #career #softwareengineering
