#ICYMI: Last week, we announced our new R&D acceleration initiative to connect and support local communities ready to bring public, equitable, learner-centered ecosystems to life. Our five-year focus is to catalyze the creation of full proofs of concept—five full-blown demonstration sites of learner-centered ecosystems in five diverse U.S. communities in five years. Through this multifaceted initiative, we will learn what’s possible—the difference learner-centered ecosystems can make, what’s needed for reliability, equity, and scale, and a roadmap to build these ecosystems nationwide. This will require exploration with dozens of pilot sites to identify what works, amass learnings, and codify best practices. To enable this important work, we have set a bold goal to raise $20M by the end of 2024. This R&D work does not mark a change in our mission. Rather, it is a valiant step forward in our strategy toward enabling a joyful, inclusive, and enlivening future of learning for all young people in this country.
