Executive Director of the Women On Boards Project, Former Talent Partner at VMG Partners

Coming on to share a personal update… we recently expanded our family and brought our second child into the world! Introducing Coral Ursa Burr. Reflecting on this incredible journey, I've been contemplating something that many of us might relate to—parental leave. What happens when you're technically "unemployed" but still juggling day-to-day responsibilities as the unpaid leader of a non-profit? To be honest, I don't have a clear answer to that question. However, this thought has made me reflect on the phenomenal support system I have – a team of talented individuals at Women On Boards Project who volunteer their time to ensure I can be present during this significant chapter with my family. This situation has seamlessly tied my personal reality into the greater purpose of Women On Boards Project – supporting women in doing kick-ass things, including embracing the beautiful chaos of expanding their families! Taking parental leave, regardless of your situation, requires courage and, most importantly, trust. I am immensely grateful for the team's dedication and the trust we have in each other. Together, we continue to work towards our mission of getting more women on boards, and now, navigating the adventure of welcoming a new addition to my own board at home! Thank you all for being a part of this journey with me. Your support means the world, and I'm excited to share more updates as we embrace this new chapter together!

Ursa Minor is so adorable, Cassie Burr!

Welcome to the world Coral. Enjoy this very special and important time. Cassie, the traditional work world will be opening their arms and hearts to welcome you back when it fits your life journey. Also, I agree with you, we need a better system where it doesn’t take courage to leave the workforce for maternity/paternity leave. ❤️
