🤔 Remove carbon from the atmosphere? Avoid putting it there in the first place? Both. 🤝 Don’t miss “Assessing removals versus avoidance carbon credits,” a panel featuring Catona’s Chief Carbon Officer Robert Lee — part of S&P Global’s Carbon Management Americas Conference kicking off next week in Denver. The panel will tackle many salient issues through the ‘removals vs. avoidance’ lens — assessing and comparing credit quality, policy support, measurability of impact, and more. 🗓️ If you’ll be in Denver, add it to your calendar: Thursday, June 27th at 12:15pm. And if you’d like to meet with Rob or other members of the Catona team to chat about your organization’s projects and climate ambitions, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to set something up. https://lnkd.in/ghib2GCq 🏔 Hope to see you in Denver! #carbonmarkets #climatesolutions

Very important insights coming out of this new Ecosystem Marketplace report, which found carbon credits are associated with businesses decarbonizing faster. In particular, the study reveals that businesses purchasing voluntary carbon are more likely to report lower gross emissions year-on-year, and invest more in emissions reductions, than companies not engaged in carbon markets. Join the webinar (linked below) later this morning to learn more!
There's still time to register for the launch of our new report, "All in on Climate: The Role of Carbon Credits in Corporate Climate Strategies!" 10 AM EDT. This blog post from our guest blogger, Parker Rosenthal, reflects on the grim outlook of Earth's future, likening it to a post-apocalyptic scenario influenced by climate change. Parker, a student of environmental engineering, expresses doubts about the impact of her chosen field amidst political influences favoring fossil fuel industries. Despite feeling overwhelmed, she maintains a sense of responsibility and hope, emphasizing the need for individual and collective action to combat climate change. Parker advocates for transitioning to renewable energy sources and reducing consumption to mitigate environmental degradation, emphasizing the significance of every individual's contribution in addressing the crisis. Despite acknowledging the severity of the situation, she remains hopeful, seeing optimism as a form of resistance against environmental decline and emphasizing the urgency of action to secure a sustainable future for generations to come. We already use all of our food waste- with the grinder into the bio-digester, which then fuels class BBQ’s. Plastic waste is shredded into artistic wildlife sculptures, dinnerware, or plastic cable for 3d Printers. The implications are HUGE. Finally, these small machines that help us repurpose waste could be a vital part of urban development and eco-justice, creating job opportunities and products for disadvantaged communities through the U.S. Imagine instead of ordering from amazon, your local kids can make your 3d printed phone case! Instead of paying more for Waste Management companies who struggle to deal with sorting/ cleaning/ and repurposing waste, we see the value in reusing EVERYTHING. For example, Publix Grocery stores saved a significant amount by buying the 3-d printers for their store labeling. They could easily purchase recycled plastic cable for such printers! Finally, USF is now Top 10 for Fulbright Scholars. But we really need to win this competition at Arizona State to expand the Waste Not, Want Not program. Go Bulls!
