ENGIE and Catona Climate are joining forces to scale supply of nature-based carbon removals. 🌱🤝 The collaboration exemplifies an industry-leading approach to decarbonization — reducing emissions aligned with public science-based targets and addressing residual emissions through high-impact carbon removal projects on the path to net zero and beyond. This pre-order also demonstrates how long-term offtake commitments can help attract capital for nature-based carbon removals and scale the market. 👇 Read more about the collaboration on ENGIE’s site: https://lnkd.in/eawHm5b8

We're proud to have been ranked among the best performing councils in the UK for our work in combatting climate change by not-for-profit company Climate Emergency UK. Our ambitious Climate Action Strategy commits us to achieving net zero carbon emissions in our own operations by 2027. We also aim to become net zero across our investment and supply chain by 2040 - and to support the achievement of net zero for the whole Square Mile by the same year. Our first-of-its-kind Climate Action Dashboard uses independently verified data and gives a transparent public account of our progress in reducing carbon emissions and increasing climate resilience. This was a key tool in providing information to Climate Emergency UK. We have already cut our annual carbon emissions by 31%, and energy consumption by 21%, since 2018/2019 – and we only use 100% renewable electricity. Next month we'll publish updated figures for the financial year 2022/23. Read more here: rb.gy/9d5gy

We're excited to share that the Science Based Targets initiative has approved our climate target! We aim to reduce our absolute greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations and value chain by 42 per cent by 2030, with 2022 as our baseline. As part of the Lindex Group, we share the common goal of reducing climate emissions across the Group. The SBTi's validation shows that Lindex Group's climate strategy and targets meet the Paris Agreement standards, proving they are backed by solid science. “SBTi's validation encourages us to continue accelerating climate actions while growing our business profitably and sustainably. The validation is an important milestone in our journey to reduce climate impacts and our systematic approach has already resulted in significant emission reductions. In 2023, we reduced Lindex Group's total greenhouse gas emissions by 11 per cent compared to 2022,” says our CEO Susanne Ehnbåge

Carbon credits are a powerful instrument for financing sustainable energy projects. But in 2016, 85% of projects examined by the European Commission were deemed unlikely to achieve their reduction claims. Building trust in the market is vital to achieving climate goals, here’s how we can do it: https://tce.buzz/3BaDn3E
