Athletes’ desire to achieve peak performance requires significant physical exertion with little time for recovery. The physical demands without sufficient time for recovery lead to increased risk for injury and overall fatigue. Dietary supplements and other ergogenic aids have become staples for athletic populations to push boundaries and recover faster. Recovery products typically include amino acids, antioxidants, and botanically-derived supplements. Cannabidiol (CBD), derived from hemp, has grown in popularity due to its potential benefits including anti-inflammatory, pain and sleep support. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) removed isolated CBD from the prohibited list, further expanding acceptance of products containing CBD for athletes’ recovery programs. A recent systematic review explored studies on CBD for sports recovery using established criterion for determining which studies should be included in the review. Over 2/3 of the data came from preclinical and clinical studies in a multitude of subjects spanning from rodents or porcine animal models to human studies. Overall, results from both animal and human studies reviewed indicate CBD has significant potential for recovery through its anti-inflammatory properties. Results from our human clinical study corroborate the potential benefits for CBD as a component of a recovery program. Healthy human subjects who consumed CBD over 90 days experienced significantly less pain compared to the placebo group via surveys and analysis of biomarkers for pain. We will continue to share more data on the benefits of cannabinoids and other functional ingredients as it becomes available. #CBDBenefits #CBDWellness #SportsRecovery #Research #Cannabinoids https://lnkd.in/evYtYhSt

Did you know the human intestine, stretching an impressive 25 feet (7.5 meters), isn't just long but also incredibly diverse in its structure and function? This diversity is a key consideration in pre-clinical drug development. The intestine is divided into two major parts: the small and large intestines, each with distinct roles and structures. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: Duodenum: The hotspot for chemical digestion, mixing food with digestive enzymes and bile. Jejunum: The central hub for absorbing nutrients and minerals. Ileum: Key for Vitamin B12 absorption and bile acid reabsorption. 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘀: Structurally wider but shorter, it focuses on water and salt absorption, waste processing, and houses beneficial bacterial flora. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The varied absorption and digestive capabilities across these sections mean that a one-size-fits-all approach in drug development might not be optimal. 💡 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Regional Targeting: Develop drugs that target specific sections of the intestine for increased efficacy and reduced side effects. pH and Enzyme Consideration: Adjust formulations based on varying pH levels and enzyme profiles along the intestine. Microbiome Interactions: Understand and leverage the role of the large intestine's bacterial flora in drug metabolism. It's crucial to appreciate and integrate the intricate diversity of the human intestine into drug development strategies. What are your thoughts and experiences with these physiological nuances? #DrugDevelopment #Pharmaceuticals #Innovation #HumanAnatomy

Is there a new "Chief Fatty Acid" hitting the marketplace before long? An oleic-acid derived lipid may just be one answer or piece of the puzzle for metabolic weight management. The fatty acid ethanolamide oleoylethanolamide (#OEA) is an endogenous lipid mediator derived from the monounsaturated fatty acid, #oleicacid. OEA is #synthesized from membrane #glycerophospholipids and is a high-affinity agonist of the nuclear transcription factor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPAR-α). #Dietary intake of oleic acid #elevates circulating levels of OEA in humans by increasing substrate availability for OEA biosynthesis. #Numerous clinical #studies demonstrate a beneficial relationship between high-oleic acid diets and body composition, with emerging evidence to suggest OEA may mediate this response through modulation of lipid metabolism and energy intake. OEA exposure has been shown to #stimulate fatty acid uptake, #lipolysis, and #βetaOxidation, and also promote food intake control. Future research on high-oleic acid diets and body composition is warranted to confirm these outcomes and elucidate the underlying mechanisms by which oleic acid exerts its biological effects. These findings have significant practical implications, as the oleic acid-derived OEA molecule may be a promising #therapeutic agent for #weightmanagement and obesity treatment. Do you see OEA being further developed as a #dietaryingredient for #weightmanagement and or #metabolichealth? https://lnkd.in/d5j7JeNX #RandD #Discovery #Innovation #FattyAcid #Metabolite #FoodSupply #ProductDevelopment #Ideation #DietarySupplement #IP #Patents #RWApplications #FDA #CFSAN #SubstantiationSciences #Consultants #FractionalCSO #Substantiation #Regulatory #FractionalCR #nutrition #diet #lifestyle #endocannabinoids

cbg for weight loss While research on cannabigerol (CBG) for weight loss is still limited, there are some potential effects that may be relevant: CBG may help regulate appetite and metabolism. Some studies suggest it could stimulate appetite in those who need to gain weight, while also potentially boosting metabolic rate to burn excess fat[2][3]. Unlike THC which can trigger food cravings, CBG is thought to act more as an appetite regulator[2]. It may help stimulate hunger in those who need it, without causing unnecessary snacking. CBG interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in metabolism. It may help convert white "bad" fat into brown fat, which burns calories more efficiently[1]. One CBG derivative called HUM-234 showed promise in preventing weight gain in mice fed a high-fat diet, though more research is needed to confirm effects in humans[4]. However, CBG is not a miracle weight loss solution. A balanced diet and exercise remain crucial for healthy weight management[1]. More human studies are needed to fully understand CBG's effects on weight. Anyone considering CBG for weight loss should consult a doctor first, as it may interact with medications[1][3].
